about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Clay Bennett is a stooge. While other cartoonists may have a liberal slant, they don't whore themselves out to the Democrat Party like Clay Bennett does?

Where are the cartoons on fast and furious, the obvious corruption of Nancy Pelosi, the Solyndra scandal, the waivers for Obamacare to those who toss enough money the Democrats' way, Obama's hypocracy in continuing to rake in corporate money while also attacking it at the same time, and all the other dozens of legitimate and obvious subjects that may damage the meathead in chief and the Demorcrat Party?

Clay Bennett is the least thought provoking, the least insightful and the most predictable editorial cartoonist out there. Propaganda always will exist in editorial cartooning, but Clay Bennett has taken it to a new level. It is a waste of time to check out his cartoons.

"Clay Bennett is a stooge. While other cartoonists may have a liberal slant, they don't whore themselves out to the Democrat Party like Clay Bennett does?"

What? Do you mean like Fox News does with the Republican Party?

"Where are the cartoons on fast and furious, the obvious corruption of Nancy Pelosi, the Solyndra scandal, the waivers for Obamacare to those who toss enough money the Democrats' way, Obama's hypocracy in continuing to rake in corporate money while also attacking it at the same time, and all the other dozens of legitimate and obvious subjects that may damage the meathead in chief and the Demorcrat Party?"

Perhaps it is because there is more to each and every one of those issues and people than you have been led to believe. It is and always has been a waste of time to counter your B.S., for you are going to believe whatever you wish, despite evidence to the contrary.

"Clay Bennett is the least thought provoking, the least insightful and the most predictable editorial cartoonist out there. Propaganda always will exist in editorial cartooning, but Clay Bennett has taken it to a new level. It is a waste of time to check out his cartoons."

Is that so? I take it then, that you will move on to a more desirable site where people who think like yourself will be holding circle jerks all day long, rather than to waste any more of your time here?

I have Fox News on my favorites along with CBS,MSNBC,ABC,Washington Post,NY Times,Huffington and others. Each one has their own political preference but when you read them all you get a broad view. Anyone who only watches or reads one news source will be less informed and more narrow minded, regardless of the source.

The article Ricardo sites, told of the study which show Fox News viewers were less informed than those who watch no news at all.

From Hunter at the Daily Kos :You could literally turn your television off and you'd learn more through news osmosis via other means (reading, listening to the radio, overhearing random conversations on the street, talking with your plants) than you would by watching Fox News. Let's just savor that: Listening to Fox "News" makes you less informed than not watching news at all.

Now we know, where the crazies who comment here get their rabid ideas.

Fox news claims to be fair and balanced. Compared to the other mainstream "news", they are. They are full of lieberals both as hosts and quest commentators. Lieberals loathe any measure of truth. They are liars, hypocrites, and socialists. They no longer have a monopoly in the dissimination of information and since they can't refute the truth, they just resort to name calling. This most miserable man who feeds his fellow travelers with false pictures, probably doesn't realize that he is exposing himself and smoking out other miserable lieberals as well, who also hate free enterprise, God and country just as much as himself.

FOX NEWS is the biggest reason that our country is in the shape it is in. They have divided us and have turned Congress into one big partisan stalemate. By giving voice to liars and paid shills, they pollute the airwaves with falsehoods that their loyal listeners suck up like Kool-Aid. And then these morons go out and vote for idiots like Chuck Fleischmann or Robin Smith, who are also paid servants for their corporate masters.

Commentators like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity also share the blame. Just look at the Occupy Movement, for example. It was getting little attention and was non-partisan until Rush Limbaugh started denouncing the protesters as a bunch of Liberal dirty hippie Obama supporters. Now there is a very visible line dividing opinion on OWS. The ultimate irony is that FOX NEWS admits their bias, even as they maintain their "Fair & Balanced" motto, which is the biggest joke of all.

Jimmy Carter may or may not) have know more facts than Ronald Reagan, but Carter's presidency failed ("Are you better off now than you were four years ago?") and Reagan's succeeded because Reagan's theory--freedom--works, and Carter's theory--liberal micromanagement--does not. For the same reason, our current presidency is failing: joblessness and prices are both up and the US is less popular abroad than under George W. Bush. (The undeclared war in Libya lets the al-Quaida flag fly over Benghazi.)

So Fox news is groping, often badly enough (too many RINOs), toward a solution to the problem of President Obama, while the liberal media, including our cartoonist here, tries to defend the problem by attacking anything like a solution.

Jesus is libertarian; He saves His followers not just from Hell but from D.C. and Nashville and city hall, if the lords of the gentiles who call themselves benefactors will humble themselves and admit He knows more than they do, and if the voters will throw out the proud rulers who want to choose our light bulbs and babysitters for us, and elect humble ones who will let us alone except for terrorizing evildoers.

FOX DOESN'T EVEN PRETEND

Conservative offered this opinion: Fox news claims to be fair and balanced.

That's true. They do make that claim but Fox 'news' was never intended to be a news organization. I cut and pasted this from the internets (with source references so you can check it out to prove or dispute any fact you wish. Hope you provide the same courtesy when you rebut):

Republican media strategist Roger Ailes launched Fox News Channel in 1996, ostensibly as a "fair and balanced" counterpoint to what he regarded as the liberal establishment media. But according to a remarkable document buried deep within the Richard Nixon Presidential Library, the intellectual forerunner for Fox News was a nakedly partisan 1970 plot by Ailes and other Nixon aides to circumvent the "prejudices of network news" and deliver "pro-administration" stories to heartland television viewers. The memo—called, simply enough, "A Plan For Putting the GOP on TV News"— is included in a 318-page cache of documents detailing Ailes' work for both the Nixon and George H.W. Bush administrations that we obtained from the Nixon and Bush presidential libraries.

When you understand that, Fox 'news' actually begins to make sense. You begin to understand their motives. The entire canard begins to emerge from the fog.

So, believe what you want. You are entitled to your opinions and you have the Constitutional right to wield you opinions on political matters.

You are NOT, however, entitled to your own facts.

And if you are a loyal Fox viewer, you have precious few facts to wield.

Kind of ironic that it is their own selfish stupidity that makes them incapable of understanding the conservative argument so their shallow minds just dismiss it as irrelevant or obsolete. Too much work to understand. Better to go buy a “Hope and Change” bumper sticker and find intellectual comfort with that.

From the Roger Ailes Bible:

Propaganda must always address itself to the broad masses of the people. All propaganda must be presented in a popular form and must fix its intellectual level so as not to be above the heads of the least intellectual of those to whom it is directed. The art of propaganda consists precisely in being able to awaken the imagination of the public through an appeal to their feelings, in finding the appropriate psychological form that will arrest the attention and appeal to the hearts of the national masses. The broad masses of the people are not made up of diplomats or professors of public jurisprudence nor simply of persons who are able to form reasoned judgment in given cases, but a vacillating crowd of human children who are constantly wavering between one idea and another.

Back when the "Ground Zero Mosque" debate was so hot an heavy, Fox reporters mentioned over and over that to "follow the money" from mosque builder Imam Rauf would lead to terrorists. A little research into that idea proved to be a bit embarrassing, because the money from Imam Rauf leads straight back to Fox News.

Through the "Kingdom Foundation," Mr. Rauf has ties to the Saudi prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who also happens to be one of the biggest shareholders of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.

When reporting on the Senate block to pass the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 that would cover health care costs to 1st responders of the 9/11 attack sites, Fox News corespondents conveniently left out an important and noteworthy detail.

Fox's legal analyst, Peter Johnson, Jr. responded to the decision with the words "Shame, embarrassment, outrage and anger." He also claimed that the American Senators have "turned their back on American heroes."

The one detail that Mr. Johnson failed to mention during his diatribe is that every one of the 42 votes against the bill, effectively blocking it coming to the floor of the Senate, were cast by Republicans.

After NASA administrator Charles Bolden delivered his outreach goals for the space agency, Fox immediately transformed his PR statement into some kind of a malicious agenda.

Bolden said NASA intended to "reinspire children," "expand international relations" and "reach out to the Muslim world."

Fox focused on that word. The Fox graphics department even joined into the efforts of building conspiracy by transforming the NASA logo on the screen into the "Crescent moon and star" symbol affiliated with the Muslim world.

Earlier this year, during an edition of Fox News' "Happening Now," an on-screen graphic showed a man with the following story headline: "dsfgsdfgdsfgsdf." The additional story details goes on to explain: "sdfgsdfgsdfgsdfg."

Bill O'Reilly and Megyn Kelly took up the issue about the "dangerous Chaz Bono," complete with an anti-transsexual spew by FOX News columnist Dr. Keith Ablow.

Ablow, said that Bono's appearance on Dancing with the Stars would cause "tomboy" girls to want to change gender. He didn't waste any time spewing out more ugly lies about Bono, distorting a discussion Bono had with Oprah about gender identity.

"Chaz Bono actually asked to speak to Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh because she dresses like a tomboy and said 'I could be of use to her.' For what could you be of use, Chaz? To convince her that when she develops breasts she should cut them off?"

The above are just five of the kind of examples of "responsible journalism" that can be found on Fox News.

Opinions are not facts. Details are important and are always relevant. Carelessness reflects upon the image of the network. And lies will always be lies, no matter who tells them.

I know a number of thoughtful liberals and they know a number of thoughtful conservatives. It is the thoughtless ones among each persuasion that crow the loudest about the perceived shortcomings of the Other. When you exclude others from your circle of acquaintances, the others take on the qualities you fear most about yourself. If you're worried most about being seen as clever, you point out the dullness of the Other. If you worry about being seen as stingy, you complain about Other's fair share. So let's let Clay project his fears about his own ineptitude onto the general viewership at Fox. Unlike Clay and many of his minions in these comments, that while there may be very many uninformed Fox viewers (I guess the same can't be said of MSNBC - they don't have enough viewers for there to be "many" of anything), the thoughtful among us know there are also many informed ones.

Why not go to gov.com or Thomas Library read the legislation and reach your own conclusions. How hard is it to ignore journalist opinions and listen only to the news? It is amusing for those posting to say they are not influenced by their party leaders or the media. The best analogy of American voters is "they are a lot like their Christmas lights, they hang close to each other and are not very bright". Some are tuned in and committed to the democrats ideology while others are similarly committed to the republican ideology. The truth is neither party is admitting to the economic dilemma facing this country. Talking about a $120 billion per year reduction in a 1.7 trillion annual deficit is the most misleading rhetoric ever out of Washing D.C. How such an ineffective deficit reduction is accomplished is meaningless. Anyone with high school math knowledge should be able to figure out the long term results of such debt growth.

That is pretty darn funny!

I am sure you could pretty easily design a survey that would make any audience look "dumb" by choosing questions that reflect the coverage of any particular news station or group thereof that is covering something different than what the target group is being exposed to. Alpo just proved that for us. If alpo watched Faux News maybe he would know who the president’s Senior Advisor was!

Yea, Fox News is biased, no doubt, but so are the others and there are a lot more of them. When I listen to satellite radio and switch back and forth, it is amazing just how far apart the two sides really are.

I would like to know, what you libs do for a living versus what us "stupid" conservatives do. Most small businessmen are conservatives so I guess their all stupid too. Maybe you guys think that anyone that works hard, plays by the rules and creates wealth is the enemy of your socialist utopia.

There are a few billionaires that claim to be "progressive" but it is mainly because they just want to buy liberal politicians to get government goodies for their companies. They also give money to conservatives just to keep their bases covered.

In any event, an intelligent person gets their information from many sources. Anyone who depends on the liberal media to tell them what they want to hear is no better than the guy who ONLY watches Fox News.

Calling people who are at least as informed as you are but disagree stupid, .....is stupid.

Why are we not discussing the best comprehensive policies of how to get out of the crisis conditions and putting the people back to work in the private sectors? There has to be some truth among the information available, but as somebody said, too many of the opponents of Obama are not interested in solving problems when they can keep dividing the people against President Obama creating a stalemate while sacrificing and prolonging the conditions that keep this Republic on the verge of another great depression.
Now that is what "dumbed down" people are causing.

Another LOL for Alpo: Caught an ad on Fox News. It was CNN advertising Cooper show on Fox. I guess that is now he got a rating boost-will probably be short lived. CNN is desperate and Fox takes their ad money and laughs on the way to the bank.

Hey, what can I say? I don't refer to or remember people by their last names. If you will notice, I make it a point to refer to people when I post by both their first and last names.

I'll admit that I did not know the name of President Obama's Senior Adviser, Valerie Jarrett, but then when has she been a public figure at any time while on the job?

MyMy, I have serious doubts that CNN placed an advertisement on Fox News of any kind. You wouldn't have any video reference to that, would you?

CNN is not desperate by any stretch of your or anyone else's imagination.

Got me on this one Alpo. I have a tendency to tune out commercials. If I had listened to all of it this is what I would have heard. Anderson Cooper has a new show plus his CNN show. It will be aired on Fox stations.

He is not the first to join Fox from CNN, but he still has a show on CNN.

Which party will solve the rapid debt growth problem? When and how? Is anyone posting here concerned about the debt? Anyone have any idea how much interest will be paid annually in ten years if the debt grows at the projected rate? Anyone know what happens if the dollar is no longer the world's reserve currency?

No alprova, we haven't missed an interest payment and we won't. The interest will be paid even if you don't get your check. Not missing an interest payment may not be the criteria to judge whether the debt is a problem.

What check? I don't depend on the Government for my existence. I'm self-employed and generate my own income. In fact, I'm opening a new business that will be serving the public on the 1st of December.

"Not missing an interest payment may not be the criteria to judge whether the debt is a problem."

The debt is indeed a problem, however the fact remains that the Government of the United States of America has always managed its debt, by paying interest on whatever balance that may be on the books, perfectly, and has never missed an interest payment.

Currently, the country is weathering a lack of revenue due to financial setbacks known as a severe recession. If and when our Republican leaders get off their hind ends, quit playing politics, quit feeding the war machine, and get busy doing what needs to be done to assist this nation in overcoming adversity, the debt will be reduced.

Interest on the debt represents 6% of the nation's budget for annual spending. The Defense Department eats up 20%. Social Security comes to 20%, and Medicare and Medicaid spending comes to 23%.

When looking to cut unnecessary spending, why is what is going up the chimney at the Pentagon never looked at? That should be number one on the list of expenses that are in dire need of trimming, now.

Out of control medical costs absolutely need to be trimmed, and that should be done by limiting what providers are paid for outrageous medical costs that they bill for. There is no other industry in this entire nation that enjoys billing at outrageous rates, more than the medical industry does.

What is paid on behalf of patients, both through private insurance and through entitlement programs is ridiculous, and it needs to be reigned in severely. This is not the fault of our elderly, the sick, or the disabled.

It is the fault of the medical establishment of the United States, that has enjoyed ever increasing profits year after year.

Ending the war effort in the Middle East would save our Government more than a million dollars per day in unnecessary spending. This should be a priority and its time to end it over there. Bring the troops home and concentrate on the defense of our borders and the defense of this nation...period.

First problem: 600 people from New Jersey polled. Are you kidding? Snookie and The Situation don't even know what country they're in, much less spend their time watching the news.

Second problem: Since it's been proven that the lame stream media has to be dragged kicking and screaming, weeks after the stories break, into reporting or covering stories like Solyndra, Fast and Furious, the Fannie/Freddie debacle, OccupyMorons, John Edwards' implosion, ACORN scandal, etc., it follows that Fox News viewers would be more informed about those items instead of the claptrap that the Lame Stream Media concentrates on. CNN virtually ignored Occupy Wall Street, Solyndra and Fast & Furious for weeks, but the "violent, racist" Tea Party rallies garnered 24/7 coverage from the get-go. Go figure. I'll bet they ignore the latest scandal of ACORN still being funded by the government, despite the ban on doing so, until they are forced to report on it. Instead they'll go 24/7 with "Breaking News" on Herman Cain allegations.
