Security guard shot and injured
A security guard was injured in a shooting in Chattanooga after a teen party just after midnight Sunday, police said.
Tracy Beene, 44, suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and leg while he was trying to break up fights of teenagers at 2110 Dodson Ave. He was taken to a hospital in a personal vehicle before police arrived, and his condition was unknown Sunday night, Chattanooga Police spokeswoman Jerri Weary said in a news release.
Police still are gathering suspect information, Weary said.
Meth lab caused fire, police say
An explosion and fire at a Hixson home on Saturday was caused by a meth lab, authorities said Sunday.
The resident of 8532 Dallas Oaks Drive, Steven Christopher Brannan, was charged with initiating manufacture of methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson. She said Brannan was given a bond of $75,000 and faces a court date Dec. 13.
Dallas Bay volunteer firefighters were called to the home shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday and brought the small fire under control.
Deputies were called and found what appeared to be evidence of a meth lab explosion in the garage, Atkinson said.
There were no injuries in the explosion and fire and damage to the home appeared to be minor, authorities said.
