Cain Campaign

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

What would the NAACP have to say about anything related to Herman Cain?

The man allegedly has a habit of chasing and attempting to engage in carnal relations with white women. And that's perfectly acceptable, with the exception of it being a violation of his marital vows, if that's what he likes, so long as it involves mutual consent.

He's hardly the first man to do it and to deny it afterward, and he will hardly be the last.

Clay Bennett's "work" epitomizes the cowardly, hypocritcal and racist nature of the American left, and the Democrat Party. Blacks better not step out of line, or else!

I wonder if Bill Clinton put his big, fat, white Bible in a drawer when Monica Lewinsky was summoned to the oval office? But that was ok, because he's white, huh?

A white Democrat accused of rape and sexual assault will always be looked upon more favorably than a black American who chooses to be a Republican in the eyes of liberal like Bennett.

Look at all the juicy topics out there that a good cartoonist could sink his teeth into, but Bennett chooses to ridicule Cain just one more time. He's knows he's finished, but being the good plantation boss that he is, Bennett wants to teach him a lesson and send a a message to other black Americans who are thinkng about freedom.

EVERYTHING OLD COULD BE NEW AGAIN

I'm a little confused about the political rise and fall of Herman Cain.

First, he proposed a tax scheme that would make the poor and working class pay even more while millionaires and billionaires would pay even less.

No wonder you tea baggers love it!

Second, several women accused Cain of sexual harassment and claimed they were paid off for their silence. Now another woman said she had an affair with Cain that went on for years. (That shouldn't disqualify anyone from public office. Having an affair is not about your political credentials; it's about how well qualified you are to be a husband.)

I was stunned, however, when he said that the U.S. would be ill advised to send planes into Iran to destroy their nuclear facilities because there were too many mountains. Seriously? He later repeated that twaddle like the sage military strategist he IS NOT.

Is there any structure that could be built anywhere on this planet that U.S. military aircraft could not obliterate?

It's a miracle that anyone in the GOP ever took this guy seriously. Are you tea baggers so desperate for 'anyone but romney' that even this political boob (no pun intended) could inspire presidential wishes and White House dreams? Really?

But as bad a candidate as Cain was, and he was a doozy, he wasn't any worse than any other republican candidate. Unfortunately, the bench is getting thin. Almost everyone has gotten a chance to play in the game and earn their participation trophy, but it shouldn't come down to just Newt 'baggage' Gingrich and Mitt 'multiple choice' Romney.

Let's keep this party kicking! Isn't it time, once again, for Michele Bachmann!?!

The only thing the media has used so far against Ron Paul is ignoring him and labeling his policy positions as radical or extreme without providing him an opportunity to explain or expand on them. Oh please. Herman Cain is the one who put himself in the place he finds himself in today. There's nothing remotely coward, hypocritical, or racist about highlighting current accusations being lobbed his way.

"I wonder if Bill Clinton put his big, fat, white Bible in a drawer when Monica Lewinsky was summoned to the oval office? But that was ok, because he's white, huh?"

Race has nothing at all to do with it. To even bring it into the mix is one of the most ridiculous assertions ever raised.

"A white Democrat accused of rape and sexual assault will always be looked upon more favorably than a black American who chooses to be a Republican in the eyes of liberal like Bennett."

As far as I know, Mr. Cain has not been accused of rape or sexual assault. He has been accused of sexual harassment and of having an affair outside of marriage.

You have no proof whatsoever that anyone, much less Mr. Bennett looks upon someone accused of rape or sexual assault, "favorably."

"Look at all the juicy topics out there that a good cartoonist could sink his teeth into, but Bennett chooses to ridicule Cain just one more time."

Look at today's headline concerning Mr. Cain. Whether you agree with it or not, today's cartoon is most topical.

"He's knows he's finished, but being the good plantation boss that he is, Bennett wants to teach him a lesson and send a a message to other black Americans who are thinkng about freedom."

Oh brother. Now you're simply whining like a kid. First of all, Mr. Cain is not a typical American, much less a typical black American. The man is not thinking about freedom. He doesn't represent typical black Americans.

Herman Cain's thought processes involve helping the rich to make and to keep more money and to shift the tax burden onto the backs of middle and the lower income classes. He has a desire to dismantle Social Security and Medicare.

Given his particular taste in women, he further proves that he does not care for people of his own race.

Don't blame Clay or anyone else for Herman Cain's undoing. He did it to himself.

I totally agree, OTS. I am sick and tired of this nobody who has had way too much time in the spotlight and way too much undeserved support from gullible and fawning right wingers. Whether he is a reprobate with a compulsion for harassing women or not is a major issue in and of itself, if true, and personally I think he's probably guilty on all counts and probably others that we haven't even heard about. But it's all secondary to his utter stupidity. He likely couldn't pass a junior high school civics or American history exam and yet he and his rabid supporters think he's qualified to run for president. Of course, they think intelligence is a bad thing anyway, a sign of elitism, so it's no wonder they admire him so much. But the pizza man's days are numbered, surely, and I for one will be glad not to see his mug in the news any more. The Cain train is approaching its final destination of Nowhereville. End of the line for ol' 999.

Good comments, alprova. Allow me to add my two cents' worth.

"Clay Bennett's "work" epitomizes the cowardly, hypocritcal and racist nature of the American left, and the Democrat Party. Blacks better not step out of line, or else!" - lumpy

Lumpster, that statement is as full of crap as a porta-pottie at Riverbend. There is no truth whatsoever in that baseless comment. When Clinton's presidential BJ with Monica Lewinsky came out in the open, as well as his sexual harassment claims from Paula Jones, I didn't immediately jump to his defense like you right wing toadies did with Clarence Thomas and like you are doing now with Herman Cain. And when Anthony Wiener was exposed for exposing his wiener (or at least the impression of it under his undies), I didn't immediately jump to his defense either. I simply waited to see what truth might come out before I made up my mind as to his culpability. And I know many other of us lefties who reacted in the same way – waiting to weigh the evidence before making a judgment call.

You and your right wing reactionaries on the other hand have vehemently defended Thomas and Cain as paragons of virtue from the very beginning, even though there is just as much chance that they both were/are guilty as not guilty. And you have instinctively and unfairly denounced the women who have made the accusations, even though they have nothing to gain and much to lose by coming forward.

Race has absolutely nothing to do with any of this. Your comments are total BS. Pardon me while I flush them into the sewer of lies and idiocy where they belong.

Truthfully it doesn't matter whether the women Cain committed or attempted to commit adultery with were Caucasian or Black. The fact is he committed or attempted to commit the act of adultery with several women. The fact they were mostly(to date not one seems to have been Black) Caucasian is a matter of his personal preference. To read some of the right wingers comments one would think just because they were all Caucasian no one should comment on his indiscretions, because to do so is racist. That's complete nonsense!! Herman Cain is a liar and a cheat plain and simple. Someone, somewhere knew it and they decided to leak it to the media. Like most sex scandals the media took it and ran with it and found out there was more truth than lies to the stories. The fact he, like many of his colleagues, wants to throw around words like "family values" while committing adultery only makes him more susceptible to media scrutiny and comedic material for late night TV hosts. The only person to blame for Herman Cain's downfall is HERMAN CAIN. He lied and he got caught. Stick a fork in him, he's done. The Repubs don't have anyone who is going to be a formidable candidate against Barack Obama. They know it and so does everyone else now. Newt Gingrich is a joke and there's probably a whole lot more out there the public has not been made aware of just yet. Mitt Romney is going to end up being the candidate for the Republican Party by default. After all of his flip-flops are lined up and after the first debate against President Obama it will be all over for him. Richard Nixon ran more than once before he finally got elected so there's still hope for Romney down the line just not in 2012.

How many women will it take?

He needs to get out and avoid the embarrassment of the Iowa results. The media Grinch will rain on Gingrich's Christmas parade if his poll numbers keep improving.

You mean they'll refer to Newt's many interesting/questionable activities and quotes? I believe that would be called a track record.

I would like to see Huntsman make a run to the top to see what would be used to torpedo him.

Well, I'd say the ones who would do that are the extremists in the GOP. If the rest of the media follows their lead he's toast.

The only thing the media has used so far against Ron Paul is ignoring him and labeling his policy positions as radical or extreme without providing him an opportunity to explain or expand on them.

Mainstream Republicans cringe at the thought of Paul as president. Repeal the Patriot act? End the drug war? Legalize marijuana? Pull all of our troops from foreign soil? That alone would make the hawks in the party revolt. Again, I doubt the media would be his worse enemy.

Bachmann, Santori and Perry will implode on their own. None of them can beat the Obama machine and his fund raising from the big money people in NY, CA and Chicago.

Citizens United allows unlimited spending by corporations. The Republican party will be the main beneficiary of that twisted decision.

During Barack Obama’s tenure as the president of the Harvard Law Review in the late 1980s, at least two male student editors complained to colleagues and senior university officials about inappropriate behavior by Obama, ultimately leaving their positions at the journal, multiple sources confirm to THE KANSAS CITIAN.

The men complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Obama that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the university that gave them financial payouts to leave the journal. The agreements also included language that bars the men from talking about their departures.

The list includes, but is not limited to: President Obama, Ben Bernanke, Tim Geithner, Alan Greenspan, Henry Paulson, Wall Street, economists, lobbyists, Congressmen, Republicans, Democrats, and probably somewhere in there Sarah Palin gets a finger wag or two as well. Of course, it is much easier and satisfying to finger-point than admit the ugly truth: we all at fault for the nation’s problems.”……..

It's common knowledge that the politicans, and the mainstream media manufacture negative press when they want to smear a public figure and have nothing factual to do it with. I believe this is just more of the same from them. I don't know if it is the left or Cain's opponents, or a combination of the two doing it, but if you look at the personal lives of Cain's accusers, they are all lowlifes with a history of poor money managment and sexual harrasment accusations. Without some sort of tangible proof to the accusations, all we have to go on is their character. The whole thing is a he said she said. Cain is a responsible accomplished man and his accusers have so far been irresponsible, money strapped women with a penchant for making accusations of sexual harrasment, most likely for financial gain.

Alpo, in your 12:23am (insomnia?) comment you used allegedly in the beginning and then convicted him at the end. Which one is it?

Rickaroo, lol! Nothing to gain? These women are guaranteed a talk show circuit, book deals and 15 minutes or more of fame. They might even make rent.

Blackwater, really? Do you have no idea whatsoever how the justice system in the country works? These women were paid off because it is cheaper than dragging their crap through the courts and being judged in the court of public opinion which is always guilty until proven innocent thanks to the mainstream press... Unless you are a liberal progressive of course. What we need is some tort reform. Loser pays would go a long way toward getting rid of frivolous law suits.

To those trying to call this like it is and using the race card, SHAME! SHAME SHAME! (OWS style) The race card is for the exclusive use of the anti-civil rights, KKK, stay on the welfare plantation democrats. How dare you try to use their tactics against them. Don't you feel bad now?

Cain never imagined in his wildest dreams that he’d ever lead the pack. He lucked into a situation where none of the candidates had broad appeal which left him as the anti-Romney candidate dujour after both Bachmann and Perry let the moths out of their skulls. Cain’s play from the start was to brand his name, sell books and create enough buzz about himself to allow him to increase his speaking fees. He might also have been looking for a Fox News gig similar to the deal that Huckabee and Palin received after the 2008 election.

But the gods had a different plan in mind for the lying and conniving pizza man. By January, Herman Cain’s books should be available in the $1 book bins at your local Barnes & Noble.

True enough. It is also correct to note that a government system based on respect for personal rights cannot function unless citizens are as firmly grounded in the principle of personal responsibility. Unfortunately, free-market capitalism thrives on selfishness, not on personal responsibility.

I also find it curious that the 24-hour "news" channel with the highest viewer rates is able to correctly identify the problem. Yet, it functions in a way that perpetuates that problem

Cain's guilt/innocence is not yet proven, even given the fact that the rules of evidence are a lot lower on the campaign trail. It is also not yet certain whether Cain's current problems are the consequence of too many skeletons to prevent a few from turning into zombies or a conspiracy. If the latter, the neocons have more to gain by taking him out than would the liberals and the neocons are also a lot more adept at dirty tricks, e.g. John McCain, South Carolina 2000.

Livin4life wrote: "Once more we find the liberal media, always cheering for the plight of minorities, piling on a Black Man who is conservative. If Cain were lib or a Demo this would be racism, bigotry and cause for the drawboy to lose his job."

Do you even know how to define racism? A racist holds the inherent belief that one race of people is superior in some manner to another. Bigotry is defined as someone who has a complete intolerance of anyone of another race or creed.

Now look back at the top of this page and please explain how in the world the cartoon depicts anything remotely resembling racism, bigotry, or fodder of any kind that should result in Mr. Bennett losing his job.

Is it not a fact that Mr. Cain has been accused multiple times of sexual harassment? Is it not true that Mr. Cain is now weathering an accusation, with proof mind you, that he carried on an affair with a woman outside of his marriage? Is it not also true that every single woman that has come forward to make claims against Mr. Cain, has been Caucasian?

To suggest that merely pointing out the fact that the man has been accused of malfeasance does not break the racism barrier either. Are we to not criticize the man because he is black AND Conservative.

What about hypocrisy? The man preaches at a pulpit on Sundays, or did until he announced his candidacy. How many of you knew that? He claims to be a man of God.

"With all the double standarding today no wonder few people give any credibility to the media....Well few except some voters and self-exalted and self-proclaimed libs."

Oh Please. When there is a Republican in the White House, the media is Conservative. When a Democrat is in the White House, the media is Liberal.

When it comes right down to it, there are reputable and credible people who respect our elected officials, no matter what political party they are affiliated with. Republicans get plenty of passes by members of the media.

Again, what a waste of time folks when there are many, many more current problems which the left in this country refuses to face.

A big problem and root of many ills for this country, the left is the biggest supporter, and now is headed up by nothing more than a Community Organizer who wants to take from those who make.

All you have to do is look at our society to see Government handouts and the abuse of them is a major problem not only on the economy but people’s ability to take personal responsibility and become a maker not a taker.

It's called the Tom Robinson strategy. Whenever a black Republican steps up on the national stage Democrats pull the sexual assault card. They did it with Clarence Thomas too. Who's next? Alan West, Tim Scott, or, maybe an hispanic like Marco Rubio? Democrats will be the party of minorities whether those minorities like it or not.

Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd, John Edwards are ok because they're white and Democrat.

Clay Bennett is a racist, because he, like most of you Dems, believe blacks are the property of the Democrat Party.

Herman Cain is a so-called Man of God. He is an ordained Baptist Minister. So far, there have been many women who have come forward to say Cain harassed and hit on them. He has vilified all of these women, just like many of the commenters here at the TFP. The demonizers state the women are political operatives or gold diggers and just trying to destroy Cain. We tend to think of Cain as a pizza man, CEO and a Republican hypocrite; yet, very few mention he is a Baptist Minister.

Ministers are trusted and dearly loved, especially for women. That is why Cain's behavior is reprehensible and egregious. The problem for Cain right now is coming from his home life. His wife most likely suspected things over the years, but he would have assured her how strong his faith is and may have sworn upon the Bible or to God that he never would or did be unfaithful. She would have believed him. Her family and church are probably the most important thing to her, as it is for many women.

As she saw more women come forward and she begins to know some of them, things start to unravel quickly for him. It isn't the Republicans nor the Democrats who are destroying Cain, it is Cain, himself. His wife stood by him all these years and believed in him and his faithfulness. Now, she is finding out how badly he betrayed her and his family. He will exit the race because if it ever got out how he mistreated his wife and violated their sacred trust, he wouldn't even be able to work as a pizza delivery guy. He would be forever ruined.

Lumpy wrote: "It's called the Tom Robinson strategy. Whenever a black Republican steps up on the national stage Democrats pull the sexual assault card."

Alan Keyes, Colin Powell, and Michael Steele come to mind right off the top of my head of examples of Black Republicans who were never accused of any instance of sexual malfeasance.

"Who's next? Alan West, Tim Scott, or, maybe an hispanic like Marco Rubio? Democrats will be the party of minorities whether those minorities like it or not."

There is more evidence that the leaks to the press about Herman Cain were instituted by people formerly associated with him or by people associated with other Republican candidates, than there is that it was introduced by anyone associated with the Democrat Party.

"Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd, John Edwards are ok because they're white and Democrat."

Ted Kennedy is an enigma. The people in his district kept voting for the man despite all his baggage. Outside of Massachusetts, the man was not so popular.

Bill Clinton runs a close second in having Teflon skin. I think the best reasons that he overcame the accusations that emerged when he was running for President, were for two reasons. 1.) The charges were simply not believable by the public. 2) Hillary immediately stood by his side and offered undying support for her husband. Together, Bill Clinton met them head-on by making all the talk show rounds, speaking publicly about the accusations, rather than to issue and denial and trying to run away from them.

Chris Dodd, as far as I am aware, has never been accused of any sexual impropriety.

John Edwards was completely ostracized by the Democrat voters, and the last straw was the affair he carried on while his wife was battling cancer. The man will probably never run for political office ever again.

"Clay Bennett is a racist, because he, like most of you Dems, believe blacks are the property of the Democrat Party."

You have no basis whatsoever for making that statement, and by repeating it over and over, you make yourself look like a complete idiot. Why don't you knock it off Francis?

There have been many Republicans who happen to be black, who have never been bothered by scandal.

Herman Cain put himself in the position he finds himself in, and that's all there is to it.

Are there still any Michelle Bachmann supporters left out there? She made another classic gaffe earlier today.

She told supporters in Iowa of her plans for American diplomacy, claiming that a Bachmann presidency would mean no U.S. embassy in Iran.

According to a tweet from NBC News' Jamie Novogrod, Bachmann responded to the recent raiding of the British embassy in Iran, by saying that if she was President, she would close down the U.S. embassy there.

There's only one problem with her comment. The U.S. hasn't had an embassy in Iran since 1980.

The U.S. has not had an embassy in Iran ever since the Iranian hostage crisis, when revolutionaries held 52 Americans for 444 days.

The Bachmann damage control team responded fairly quickly on this one, issuing a press release at 9:11pm Eastern time. They claim her words were taken out of context, however the campaign has yet provided a transcript of her remarks.

"Congresswoman Bachmann is a member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence and is fully aware that we do not have an embassy in Iran and have not had one since 1980. She was agreeing with the actions taken by the British to secure their embassy personnel and was speaking in the hypothetical, that if she was President of the United States and if we had an embassy in Iran, she would have taken the same actions as the British."

"Her remarks are being taken out of context, given that she has spoken on this subject several times in the past 24 hours and made it clear that she knew we did not have an Iranian embassy."

"As she has previously stated, President Obama has taken his eye off of Iran, the most significant security threat in the region, and allowed them the luxury of time to move toward obtaining nuclear weapons. She will never allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons that would threaten our ally Israel and the United States."

A week has seven days in it and for every other day of that seven day week Michelle Bachmann makes a truly dumb, ignorant, remarkable statement. She provides more comedy material for late night TV than a whole room full of comedy writers and she does it for free. If she was suppose to be the Republican female equivalent to Hillary Clinton then they have failed miserably. Just as they failed to make Herman Cain the Black equivalent to Barack Obama.

Evidently someone thought here's Herman Cain, a businessman, entrepreneur, Baptist Minister, graduated from Morehouse College (the same college as Dr. Martin Luther King), been married to the same woman for 43 years. How could they lose with him if nothing else they might be able to put him on the ticket as VP? Then the stories started leaking out one by one concerning his indiscretions and soon those leaks became cracks in the dam. One would think a lesson had been learned the last time around when everyone tried to jump on the Sarah Palin bandwagon when McCain put her on his ticket as a VP candidate. She was never properly vetted by the media and when they finally did, it was soon discovered she was nothing more than a pretty face with air between her ears.

Now the right wingers are upset because Cain has been exposed as nothing more than a hypocritical, lecherous, liar. He's been caught with his proverbial pants down and he's been caught more than once. The bitterness on the part of the right wingers is not because the media has given attention to the women in his indiscretions instead it's because they don't have anything that even comes close to this type of disregard for FAMILY VALUES from Barack Obama. They can't point to any affairs he's had in his marriage or women who have been paid to go away and keep quiet. NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH and that is what eats at them. They were bamboozled by the rhetoric of Herman Cain telling them he had ESCAPED from the Democratic Plantation when in reality his idea of ESCAPE had more to do with the fact he could make passes and have affairs with Caucasian women and not worry about getting lynched in Georgia. There are honorable Black Republicans in this country, Herman Cain was never one of them.

Tom Robinson is a fictious character in the PLAY..TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD....Tom Robinson was falsely tried and found guilty of raping a white woman in ALABAMA...eventhough it was proven he did not commit the crime he was sentence anyway. Guard claim he tried to escape so they shot him 17 times.

So consevative is using Herman Cain as Tom Robinson...ha ha ha

there are a few distinctions:

TOM ROBINSON WAS A POOR MAN

TOM ROBINSON DIDNT HAVE A HAREM OF WHITE WOMEN ALL SAYING THE SAME THING

TOM ROBINSON TOLD THE TRUTH

TOM ROBINSON HAD ONE GOOD ARM

TOM ROBINSON WAS NOT A ARROGANT RICH MILLIONAIRE WITH A DEGREE FROM MOREHOUSE AND PURDUE...

NATIONAL RESTURANT ASSOCIATION DIDNT PROTECT TOM ROBINSON PAYING OVER 100,000 OF DOLLARS SHUT-UP MONEY

Cain should spare his wife the embarrassment of having to stand by his campaign once Ginger White releases the content of those text/sex messages he was sending to her at 2:00 a.m. and other times of the day and night. Eventually, the most lurid content of those messages is going to be leaked to the media if he stays in this race. Whomever is behind all of these leaks already has the messages in their possession, they are simply giving him the opportunity to withdraw and save his wife further embarrassment. Whether fortunately or unfortunately Dems don't have the stomach or backbone for this type of HARDBALL politics. This whole episode is straight out of the "Lee Atwater, How to destroy your opponent" handbook. Two things right wingers should start paying attention to (1)the candidate who begins to move up in the polls once Cain has been totally removed from the picture and(2) which of the candidates is using Karl "turdblossom" Rove as an advisor. One or both of these observations will lead them to the source of the leaks. Dems didn't have anything to lose with Cain being in the top of the Republican field. He would have been the gift that keeps on giving. Now they have to fall back on the RE-gifting of Newt Gingrich. Of course, sometimes re-gifting can be just as good. LOL
