Bus crash

Six people, including four children, were sent to the hospital today as a precaution after a wreck involving a Hamilton County school bus, police said.

The accident occurred at 2000 Amnicola Highway just after 4 p.m. and involved the bus and a Pontiac Grand Am, said Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary. The Grand Am rear-ended the bus as both vehicles were entering Riverside Drive from Amnicola Highway, she said, and the car's driver told police that she did not see the bus because of sun glare.

A dispatcher with Durham School Services, the company that operates the school system's buses, said the bus was carrying special needs students.

Along with the children, the bus driver and the Grand Am driver were taken to the hospital, Weary said.

The driver of the Grand Am, who has not been named, was cited for following too closely and not having insurance.
