Multi-car accident on I-75 South at the I-24 split has traffic backed up to Highway 153

There's a multi-car accident on I-75 South at the I-24 split that is causing significant delays in morning traffic.

According to police, only one lane is open and traffic is currently backing up as far as Highway 153 while TDOT and Chattanooga police clean up the scene.

Five cars were involved in the accident and no injuries are being reported, according to police.

I think interstates need to be patrolled more. There is a lot of speeding and erratic driving. It's scary.

I agree. I took a little trip this past weekend and while on the interstate, set my cruise at 70....had to stay in the slow lane and at times was holding up traffic.....I was passed consistently with cars that had to be doing 80/85+
