Bones likely of an adult male were found at Renaissance Park on Monday afternoon, Chattanooga police said.
Children found a skull and took it to their parents, Assistant Chief Tim Carroll said. The parents notified police. When officers arrived, the children led them to the location where they found the skull. Police then found more remains.
Carroll said that based on the clothing, the bones appear to be those of an adult male. The remains may have been there since June, July or August, he added.
The bones do not seem to be a fit with anyone locally in the missing persons database, Carroll said.
The investigation is continuing, he said.

First it was a body.... now just bones?
Wow, it must have decomposes quickly since yesterday.
Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being a homeless person. They will occasionally burrow themselves back in the wooded brushy areas at the park to camp. Someone could expire there and easily not be found for months.
What happened to the other two posts here? Another rewording of the headline to remove "objectionable" comments? Again?
Body found in park and that immediately translates to gang**, crime* and attacks on the mayor? Wow! At least NorthChatter got it right in suggesting it could very well be the case of a homeless individual dying of natural cause. Some people's hatred for the mayor is so intense that they'll harp on anything to make their case.
It could be a Halloween decoration. It is close to that season and there are haunted houses and decorations already up. I would hate to think that some poor soul expired and was just left in the bushes for so long and nobody noticed or even smelled anything.
But jayhay182, hopefully Chattanoogans haven't stooped so low that they'd actually place the remains of a real human on display as Halloween decor.
Do you think the police are having trouble telling walmart molded plastic Halloween bones from actual human bones?
Now, that you mentioned jer, that is a possibility to be considered. LOL!!
