A 25-year-old man accused of shooting a Chattanooga man to death after an argument at a downtown nightclub remained in jail Tuesday.

On Monday, Chattanooga police found Roderick "Pooh Pooh" Bates in a residence at 3918 Marigold Drive. He faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated burglary, police said.

Bates was given a $500,000 bond.

Reginald Clark, 27, was slain Oct. 6 after he and one of his friends had an "altercation" with Bates and his girlfriend at the 807 Fire & Ice nightclub on Market Street, according to a police report. A few minutes after Clark left the club and went to his home at 1644 Greenwood Drive, two men entered the residence, rushed Clark and opened fire, hitting Clark repeatedly, according to the report.

A medical examiner's report shows that Clark was shot twice in the chest and once in the back. Police found him lying in a pool of blood on his kitchen floor.

Bates is the second suspect in custody and charged in Clark's death. Last week, police arrested 25-year-old Emmett Dewayne "D-Baby" Jones after witnesses identified Jones and Bates through photos.

Bates has previous drug convictions, as well as a conviction for evading arrest and reckless endangerment dating back to 2005, according to local court records.

Bates is scheduled to appear before General Sessions court Judge Clarence Shattuck at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 25.

Clark's slaying marked the 22nd homicide this year for the city of Chattanooga.
