Traffic flowing again on Interstate 75 after rush-hour crashes

Thursday, October 20, 2011

A car slowed down with traffic at 5:20 p.m. on Interstate 75, but the car behind it didn't follow suit.

After the first rear-end accident, a series of crashes followed. In all, five cars crashed, mostly hitting the first car, and causing a two-hour traffic holdup on I-75 North.

Two people were transported to Erlanger hospital with non-serious injuries, and there were no deaths.

Although the interstate is flowing now, Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said police officers were still at the scene as of 7:35 p.m.
