A woman was injured in a shooting early Sunday in East Lake Courts, police said.

Chattanooga police were called at 1:40 a.m. to the 2500 block of Fourth Avenue by the East Lake Courts public housing area, police spokeswoman Jerri Weary said in a news release.

The injured woman, Inga Carter, told conflicting stories about where and how she was shot, Weary said.

She may have been shot somewhere inside East Lake Courts, Weary said.

Carter was hit in the right shoulder and also had a laceration to her right hand. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Weary said.

No arrests have been made, Weary said.

Carter described the suspects as two black males between the ages of 17 and 25 who were both wearing black overalls.

One was also described as having dreadlocks and wearing a red-and-black ball cap. Weary said.
