400 mourners show up at funeral for coon dog in Alabama

It won't make a lot of difference to any of us, but just how many people do you think will attend your funeral?

They say that if we are fortunate to live long enough, there won't be many of our contemporaries still around to follow us to the cemetery.

But more than 400 mourners showed up at a funeral in Tuscumbia, Ala., recently -- for a coon dog!

They say a dog is man's best friend. And when an 11-year-old black-and-tan coon dog named Bo was buried last week, there were a lot of human "friends" there to pay their respects.

Many of the mourners at the cemetery, reportedly the only one dedicated strictly to hounds that hunt raccoons, appropriately were attired in woodland camouflage hunting clothes.

Bo's full name was Shawnee Hills Beujolais, and he hailed not from Alabama but from Illinois.

But his owners wanted Bo, a winner of several raccoon-hunting competitions, to be buried among others of his breed.

There was no account of any raccoons being among Bo's mourners, however.
