A mixture of upstarts, newcomers and frequent visitors will battle today in a trio of region championship soccer matches.

No team gets eliminated tonight, but winners will get the opportunity to host a sectional match on Saturday with an opportunity to play in next week's state soccer tournament in Chattanooga.

In Region 3-A/AA, eighth-ranked East Hamilton (12-6-1) will travel to Grace Academy at 7 p.m. The Lady Golden Eagles (12-6-1) will be making their first region championship visit since 2004, also the last time they've advanced to the state tournament.

The Lady Hurricanes are in their first region tournament final.

Region 4-A/AA pits third-ranked Notre Dame (6-10-3) and second-ranked Chattanooga Christian (16-3-2). CCS is 2-0 against the defending state champions, marking the first victories the Lady Charger seniors have had in their careers.

Soddy-Daisy hopes to defend their three consecutive Region 3-AAA championships by defeating Cookeville (15-4-1). The Lady Trojans (16-2-2) have been hot as of late, winning nine straight, allowing a total of two goals in the combined matches. They haven't lost since a 1-0 defeat to Farragut in the Cleveland Soccer Tournament, a streak of 11 matches total -- a record of 10-0-1 in that span.

Junior Summer Lanter has back-to-back hat tricks and eight goals in three postseason matches. She has 27 goals on the season, while University of Tennessee at Chattanooga commitment Hannah Wyatt has 12 goals and 21 assists on the year.
