Chattanooga police have arrested seven teenagers in connection with a triple shooting Friday night on Fifth Avenue.
The victims have been identified as Darrell Sims, 33; Veronica Suttles, 39; and Vanessa Suttles, 37.
Police said Vanessa Suttles was treated and released after being shot in the wrist. Veronica Suttles and Sims were taken into surgery for more serious injuries are are listed today in stable condition, according to a police news release.
Two boys ages 16 and 17 have been charged with three counts each of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
An 18-year-old, Jerry Springs, was charged with accessory after the fact and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Two 14-year-olds, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old also were charged with accessory after the fact.
The police release said the motive for the shooting is unclear but witnesses said it stemmed from an argument between people at 3105Fifth Avenue and another group walking in the area.
Social sciences para-professionals state that education is the key to restore and promote civilization. In the majority of all the shootings I believe there is a strong pattern of assailants with very little schooling.
Perhaps a new law should pass to make people stay in school much longer than the current threshold.

I don't think that school is the answer, the world just seems to be getting overpopulated and 1% will always be thugs. Besides with the sharp rise in tuition costs lately I'd have to turn tricks down town just to be able to go to school to become more civilized.
Pastor Adams(not Rev. because we only reverence God)and Rep. Favors are in the trenches working to do what alot of others just sit back and critize others for not doing (damned if you do and damned if you don't). The church is commonplace(banality) for guidiance. I wonder if Pastor Adams' critic (Patriot1) has ever been to OBC or tuned to Fox (channel 61) on Sunday mornings and heard any of his sermons? Wonder if he knows the different ministries within the church that is geared toward the youth or the mentoring programs at the church? Has he ever been to OBC on Sundays and seen the youth that are giving their lives to the Lord and giving up the gang lifestyle? Has he ever heard testimonies from prisoners who have turned their lives around because of the Word of God that Pastor Adams and his ministry team have shared with them. I am a member of OBC and I invite you to come see and hear and then make your judgement after you have witnessed for yourself what the man of God is doing for our community.
Rep. Favor is a woman of God whose also working with and for the community here and in Nashville. It's easy to sit back and throw stones but what have you done lately for the community other than hide behind a user name and critize just about every article that hits the CTFP....Get involved!!!!!

Finally someone speaking up and out about two most phenomenal people!! I've visited Pastor Adam's church, though it's been a few years back now, and I said it then and I'll say it again, if anyone can reach the city's young and troubled youth he can. He doesn't try to force or shove religion down anyone's throat. He just offers help in any way he can. I also got to visit some of the classes(they weren't bible classes) at the church helping people who didn't finish school study for their GEDs and such, again phenomenal!! I also took a few young men over who needed jobs, again they had training and other things to offer there too.
On Ms. Favors, another phenomenal individual, I' not in her district, but she contacted me several years ago after hearing about a medical situation for a family member. She offered suggestions and help. Ms. Favors doesn't recognize skin color. She recognize the poor and struggling. And being a registered nurse herself, of course her concerns often center around the medical needs of the poor all across the state of TN and the rest of the country. Just because people aren't out there beating their chest and shouting LOOK AT ME! LOOK WHAT I'M DOING FOR THOSE POOR SOULS! Anytime a tv camera or other news outlets are around to record them that doesn't mean they aren't working and working hard behind the scenes. People like Ms. Favors and Pastor Adams do their works quietly, tirelessly and selflessly. They are the true and epitome what Jesus Christ preached about. Because they do what they do from the heart and not for the recognition and rewards like some others we know about. They both may take a licking, but they don't let it stop them. They just keep on TICKING!!

You may be able to force unwilling student to attend school, but you can never force an unwilling student to learn.
The problem seems to be taking care of itself.
Maybe a mean old SRO made them pull their pants up in the eighth grade and now they have to shoot their neighbors to relieve the pain. We all know that nothing good ever came of a child talking to a Police Officer.

Given the consequences, I'd say one time would be too many. There are many of these *incidents8 that will never make the news. Especially when thee's more an effort to hide them than address them and deal with the abusers.
Just keep making excuses and let the violence roll along unchecked.

Attempts to gentrify these areas are the leading cause of many of these problems the city is having to deal with. The people weren't moving out fast enough so a wrench had to be thrown in to speed things up. That plan to gentrify started over thirty years ago. It took a while, but now here we are experiencing the backdraft.

Yes, Gentrification is the only way.... run a bunch of bulldozers through the inner-city slums, doze them to the ground and scatter all the trouble makers to the wind. This same thing happened in Chattanooga about a decade ago, and it actually helped in that it broke up some of the gangs that roamed the housing projects. However the trouble makers then went out into the rest of the city and trouble started all over town, every where the section 8 housing was taken over by gangs, ect. I'd sooner keep the trouble limited to certain small areas of town than have it spread all over... so no, your idea REALLY SUCKS in the long run.
Personally, I vote for the 6:00 executions. Find the people doing the shootings, put them on trial, if found guilty of shooting people on a random basis (or even not randomly but intentionally) you then stand them up against a concrete wall and blow holes in them with a bunch of BIG caliber rifles. It would be a punishment that fits the crime. Make sure you broadcast it on television... the 6pm executions. That way you get 2 GOOD results... the rectums doing the shooting are ended, and the example of what happens to you for random shootings is seen by all.

This wasn't gang related. In fact, it's my understanding the vics in this shooting have a long reputation of jumping people walking by their house for no reason. It's allege they even jumped a young teen girl a few years ago, where several grown @ss men beat her with their fist so badly you could barely tell where her eyes had been. When everything went to court the mother, I think the one shown in the pic who was shot in the back, cursed and threaten the teen girl and her mother, although the girl was the victim. The case was thrown out of court for a lack of evidence. Although the mother of the teen girl had pictures of her daughter's swollen face. I'm not saying anyone deserves to be shot, but this entire family seems to have created this situation themselves. They have a reputation for attacking people for no reason, and the so-called mother isn't doing anyh kind of parenting or being any kind of role model or even acting as a grownup herself.
