Hamilton County Commission Chairman Larry Henry today will reintroduce the county's original plan to redraw its political boundaries.

A vote on the original plan, announced in July, was deferred on Aug. 3.

Since then, commissioners have been meeting individually with county Geographic Information Systems staff to attempt to draw a map that reduces the size between the largest and smallest districts.

"I think we've pretty well got that worked out," Henry said.

Henry said the original plan, which was drafted with public input by a redistricting committee, remains the best. The commission will take it up in today's agenda session.

The county must redraw its political boundaries to account for population shifts and minority make-up using 2010 U.S. census figures. The proposal is due to the state by Jan. 1, 2012.

Commissioners also will consider a proposal to build an ethanol facility in the county's Bonny Oaks Industrial & Office Park.

The project, which has raised concerns among the park's neighboring residents and some commissioners, would require a zoning change or special use permit from the city and further approvals by the county.
