A woman was shot and killed outside her Dodson Avenue apartment around 3 a.m. today, according to police

A police official said the Major Crimes Division is collecting evidence after police responded to a call made by the mother of Dwana Dixson, saying her daughter had been shot outside their apartment at 457 Dodson Ave.

According to police, Dixson had been outside the apartment talking with friends when she came running inside suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest,

Dixson was rushed to a local hospital where she later died, police said.

This incident marks the 18th homicide of the year, police said.
