Chattanooga man shot by loose gun recovering

Chattanooga police said today that 25-year-old Marcus Price is recovering after surgery following an accidental shooting Friday night.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said Price was riding in his girlfriend's Chevy HHR when an unsecured gun in the rear compartment went off. The round went through the middle passenger seat and into the front passenger seat, striking Price in the lower back.

Prices' infant daughter was seated in the left rear passenger seat but was unharmed.

The shooting appears to be accidental and no charges have been filed, Weary said.
