A North Shore shopping center has installed a solar photovoltaic parking structure system that its officials call the first of its kind in the area.
Officials at the center, 2 North Shore on Manufacturers Road, said the system is projected save an estimated $10,000 annually.
Also, the firm Ecotality has installed 5 charging stations under the solar parking structure which houses 12 spots.
"We are excited about capturing solar energy on our property," said Steve Arnsdorff, owner of 2 North Shore. "Our goal is to contribute to a community that is centered around sustainability and adding solar and electric vehicle charging stations just made sense."
Sustainable Future of Knoxville designed and installed the system for 2 North Shore.
