A Chattanooga woman is receiving treatment at a hospital after shooting herself in the foot this morning, according to the Chattanooga Police Department.

Police responded to a domestic shooting this morning at 1512 Wilson Street to find that Jessica Strong suffering from a shotgun wound to her foot, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Weary said Strong and her domestic partner Marcellus Finley had been arguing since Sunday, and that the argument carried over to this morning.

At some point during the dispute, Strong pulled a sawed-off shot gun with the intention to use it against Finley, who tried to leave the home.

As Strong followed him to the doorway with the gun, the screen door slammed on her and the gun fired, striking her foot, Weary said.

Finley was not injured in the incident.

Police also obtained warrants against Strong for domestic aggravated assault and possession of a prohibited weapon. She will be arrested after she is discharged from the hospital, Weary said.
