Fatal Hixson Pike crash under investigation

An investigation is under way in a fatal crash Friday night on Hixson Pike, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim, Vicki Pippin, 39, of Hixson, was driving north on Hixson Pike in a Nissan Quest when a Mercury Sable driven by Milton Quin III, 22, entered from a side street, crossed several traffic lanes and hit the Quest in the left front, according to a news release from spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

Emergency crews had to extricate Pippin from the vehicle. She was taken to a hospital, where she died, the release stated. Two children in the Quest, ages 10 and 3, were taken to a hospital with what was believed to be minor injuries, the release stated.

Quin also was injured and taken to the hospital.

Atkinson said the sheriff’s office traffic division is investigating.
