Sherrie Gilchrist is no longer the executive director of the Tennessee Multicultural Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber's board said today.

Gilchrist had been under fire since June amid questions about Chamber finances, discrepancies in the agency's budget requests and more.

She is not with the chamber as of Aug. 17, board chairman Walter Hitchcock said.

The board is looking for a new director, he said. Meanwhile, the board is running day-to-day operations.

The goal is to reduce costs and move the organization forward, Hitchcock said.

He also said the Chamber has moved into new quarters at the Hemlock School on South Highland Park Avenue.
