Vredeveld collects 6 medals vs. Japan

Baylor School junior Kristen Vredeveld earned six medals, including three golds, in the recent USA-versus-Japan all-star swim meet in Osaka, Japan. She won the 100-meter freestyle and was part of first-place 200 and 400 free relays, and she swam to silver medals in the 50 free and the 400 medley relay. She claimed the bronze in the 200 free. Vredeveld earned her spot on the United States team with her record-setting performance in the National Club Swimming Coaches Association junior nationals last March and her achievements in the US Swimming nationals in August at Stanford University. In August she was on the U.S. team in the World Youth Swimming Championships in Lima, Peru. Vredeveld also is part of the Baylor girls' team that was ranked No. 1 in the nation by Swimming World magazine. Baylor coach Dan Flack was selected to be one of the U.S. coaches in Japan but did not go because of his responsibilities with the school and Baylor Swim Club teams.
