District 10 State Sen. Andy Berke, D-Chattanooga, has been named the Tennessee PTA 2012 Outstanding Legislator of the Year.
The Hamilton County Council of Parent-Teacher Associations and the Normal Park PTA nominated him for the award.
“Senator Andy Berke is an outstanding and vocal supporter of public education in Tennessee,” the PTA application states. “He has earned praise from both sides of the aisles for his knowledge and passion for educational issues.”
Berke will be honored at the Tennessee PTA annual awards banquet on May 5 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville.
