Polk County senior Logan Brewer recently committed to play basketball for Maryville College.

The versatile 6-foot-6 senior was the District 5-AA player of the year and led the Wildcats to the district championship. He averaged 16.1 points and 8.7 rebounds, blocked 45 shots and was the district tournament most valuable player.

The Wildcats advanced to the Region 3-AA quarterfinals.

"Logan's a very special player," Polk coach Rusty Brewer said. "He gave us a presence inside and out and defensively was good in the middle. He was productive on both ends of the court and came through Polk at a time where there were some guys that made a big difference. We had a package with him and the guys around that was a perfect fit: Everybody had roles and we were able to do it."

Maryville won 18 games this past season and advanced to the NCAA Division III national tournament.

"We are fortunate to receive Logan's commitment," Maryville coach Randy Lambert said in a news release. "I firmly believe his best basketball is ahead of him. He has the physical frame and offensive skills to play at our level.

"He can score in the post or step outside and shoot the 3. With the graduation of two post players, we need Logan to come in and have an immediate impact."
