Chattanooga: Resurfacing of I-24 in Lookout Valley to begin Sunday night

Resurfacing of I-24 in the Lookout Valley area between mile markers 171 and 177 is expected to be launched by Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews on Sunday night with traffic delays expected as the project moves to a July 31 completion.

TDOT said the work - to also include bridge deck repairs - is expected to take place primarily during nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays.

On four weekends, however, there will be lane closures beginning on Friday nights and lasting until early Monday mornings. One lane will continue to be opened to traffic at all times, TDOT said in its release.

Talley Construction Co. Inc. of Rossville, Ga., is the contractor for the $4.1 million project.
