Flip for Chinese Acrobats of Hebei

Marion Cook said the Chinese Acrobats of Hebei will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Cook, a member of the Cleveland-Bradley Concert Association, said the group worked with the Nashville-based organization Live on Stage to bring the international performers to Lee University.

According to a news release, Chinese Acrobats of Hebei are a "rigorously trained and highly accomplished acrobatic troupe."

The world-traveling group is based in China and boasts performers whose ages range from 19 to 25.

Cook said the members of the Cleveland-Bradley Concert Assocation watched a video of the acrobats at a Live on Stage artist showcase and were throrougly impressed.

"They're very acrobatic. It's unreal, some of the things they can do with their bodies."

The program includes lion dancing, contortionism, plate spinning, pole climbing and wushu, a traditional martial art.

"I thought they were a very entertaining group. I thought they will keep the audience fascinated, on the edge of their seats waiting to see what they'll do next."

Cook said he's gotten several calls from people who are eager to bring their children to see the performance.

Those attending Monday's show may purchase memberships for the 2012-13 season at a 10 percent discount. The four shows are a "Broadway Today" concert on Oct. 4; Jim Witter's "Feelin' Groovy" show, featuring the music of Simon and Garfunkel, on Nov. 5; jazz by the Side Street Strutters on Feb. 26; and Jason Coleman in "The Legacy of Floyd Cramer" on April 25.
