NASHVILLE - The state's estimated $31 billion spending plan for this coming fiscal year went to a House and Senate conference committee this afternoon where members will try to resolve differences between the two chambers' respective versions.

Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Bo Watson, R-Hixson, and Rep. David Alexander, R-Winchester, are among the members named to the panel.

The General Assembly had hoped to complete its business today, but the battle over local and regional projects and programs is forcing members to return to the Capitol next week.
