Lookouts lose 4-2 to Mobile

Saturday, April 28, 2012

The Chattanooga Lookouts activated leading hitter Kyle Russell before Friday night's game against Mobile at AT&T Field, but it wasn't enough to prevent a second consecutive defeat.

Brent Clevlen's two-out single past Lookouts shortstop Luis Nunez in the eighth inning scored Kyle Greene and David Nick to propel the BayBears to a 4-2 victory before a crowd of 5,046. Mobile improved to 13-10, while the Lookouts dropped to 10-13 and are on the brink of losing a third straight series.

Clevlen's hit came at the expense of Lookouts relief pitcher Blake Johnson, who replaced Ethan Martin after Martin had allowed one run in seven innings.

Russell had been on the disabled list with an oblique strain, and he took the roster spot of pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, whose promotion to the Los Angeles Dodgers became official. The right fielder singled to open the second and fourth innings, and he scored in the sixth when Travis Denker's two-run double to right field gave the Lookouts a 2-1 lead.

With a 2-for-3 night, Russell improved his average to .349.

The BayBears took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Wladimir Sutil drew a leadoff walk, stole second and eventually scored on a Marc Krauss sacrifice fly to left.
