University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior linebacker Wes Dothard and senior defensive end Josh Williams have made their second preseason All-America teams. The College Sporting News announced its list of the top Football Championship Subdivision players Tuesday, and Dothard was named second-team All-America and Williams was on the third team. They were in the same positions on The Sports Network's teams announced in early July. Both were voted preseason first-team All-Southern Conference. They are among eight defensive starters back this year for the Mocs, who report Thursday and begin practice at 3 p.m. Friday at Scrappy Moore Field.

Basketball

• Georgia Northwestern Technical College recently added two point guards for its 2012-13 men's basketball team, both from Georgia high school Region 7-AA: Model's Quinton Cotton and Dade County's Josh Green. Both were all-region last season. "We lost our All-American point guard," Bobcats coach David Stephenson said, referring to Matt Woods. "We had our work cut out to replace him. I think we've come out very lucky." He referred to Green and Cotton as "quality student-athletes" and said neither is "afraid to go to the basket or distribute the ball." The 6-foot-1 Green scored 29 points when Dade won its sub-region final, and 6-foot Cotton surpassed 1,000 points as a Blue Devil. Sonoraville's Tavish Reynolds is another point guard committed to GNTC, which will have official tryouts Aug. 23 and 24 at the Rossville Athetic Complex for school enrollees.
