A 29-year-old man walking along a road in DeKalb County, Ala., and reportedly making obscene gestures at passing cars was later discovered to have been stabbed several times, authorities say.

After receiving calls about 7 p.m. Sunday, authorities found Christopher Norwood walking down County Road 8 just outside of Crossville, Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a news release. At first he ran from officers, Harris said, but he was quickly caught.

Norwood was bleeding from cut wounds and was taken to Marshall Medical South by ambulance, then later flown to Huntsville Hospital, where he remains in stable condition, the sheriff said.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office at 256-845-3801.
