The woman whose accusations against Murray County Chief Magistrate Judge Bryant Cochran initiated a state investigation was arrested last night on drug charges.

Angela Garmley was charged with possession of methamphetamine after a Murray County sheriff's deputy found a magnetic container filled with meth underneath Garmley's car. He had pulled her over, according to the arrest report, because she failed to dim her bright lights.

Garmley's attorney McCracken "Ken" Poston is calling for an outside agency to investigate the case.

"It stinks to high heaven and I'm going to ask for an investigation," Poston said.

Cochran is under investigation by the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission for allegedly soliciting Garmley to have sex with him after she came to him to ask for a warrant against three people who beat her.

But Cochran is also being investigated for allegations that he pre-signed warrants, said Conasauga District Attorney Bert Poston.

Cochran wasn't available to comment.
