A 24-year-old man was arrested this morning in Red Bank, accused of planning to throw Molotov cocktails at the city’s police building.
John Lewis Mills, of 4017 Oakland Terrace, is charged with DUI, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, and one count of terrorism, according to a news release from Red Bank Police Chief Tim Christol.
About 3:15 a.m., officers saw a vehicle backing into the parking lot of Action Plumbing at 3105 Dayton Blvd., Christol said. The business is two buildings down from the Red Bank Police Department, he said.
Mills was found int he car and arrested on DUI charges, Christol said. A search of the car found two “Molotov cocktail” incendiary devices and Mills said he was upset with Red Bank police for arresting his girlfriend earlier in the evening for DUI and wanted to blow something up.
Members of the Chattanooga Police Department Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team removed the devices and rendered them harmless, Christol said.
