Body in Gainesville identified as missing teenager

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - A missing 16-year-old girl was found dead along the shore of Lake Lanier late Friday in what police said they were treating as a suspicious death.

Hannah Truelove was reported missing Thursday by her mother. A person walking in the woods near the Lake Lanier Club apartments in Gainesville on Friday saw her body and called police, Maj. Woodrow Tripp of Hall County Sheriff's office told WSB-TV. Police worked into Saturday morning gathering evidence and examining the scene.

Truelove's body was discovered not far from the apartment that the victim shared with her mother.

Investigators declined to comment Saturday on a possible cause of death, which will be determined by the medical examiner's office.

Besides interviewing the victim's family and associates, police are also investigating whether the teenager had a stalker. On a Twitter account that appeared to be used by the victim, Truelove made reference on Aug. 12 to having a stalker. She did not elaborate.
