World Championship Rotary Tiller Race in Emerson is one of the biggest attractions at the annual Purple Hull Pea Festival in Emerson, a Columbia County town of about 370 people less than 12 miles from the Louisiana border. The festival draws several thousand visitors each year, sometimes from other states and occasionally from other countries.
