Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is hosting special activities for Labor Day weekend.
• Living history artillery demonstrations will be held at Point Park on Lookout Mountain on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.
A park ranger will describe the drills and activities required to fire an artillery piece, while explaining the teamwork necessary for the weapon to be effective.
• A military timeline will be presented Saturday and Sunday in Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., behind the Visitor Center.
Living historians will represent historical military units associated with the battlefield. After a brief introduction, visitors are welcome to take a self-guided walk. These "walks through history" will begin at 10 and 11 a.m., 1, 2 and 3 p.m., and conclude with a weapons-firing demonstration.
