Gunfire reported at Tyner Academy

Chattanooga police responded to a shots fired call at Tyner Academy, dispatchers said.

Officers were already at the school at 6836 Tyner Road on Friday night for the Tyner versus Howard basketball game.

The officers reported shots fired around 10 p.m. and additional units were sent to the school, dispatchers said.

No injuries have been reported, according to dispatchers. This is the second week in a row that shots have been fired during Friday night basketball games.

Last Friday, officers responded to shots fired near Brainerd High School. No one was injured in that incident.


Gunshot victim arrives at Erlanger

Chattanooga police are investigating a 17-year-old who arrived at Erlanger hospital Friday night with a gunshot wound, dispatchers said.

The victim arrived in a private vehicle about 10:20 p.m.

The teenager has not been identified, and his condition has not been released.


Hit and run wreck fatal to 1

A person died in a hit and run accident Friday afternoon in the 4400 block of St. Elmo Avenue, Chattanooga dispatchers said.

A truck collided with a motorcycle about 4:30 p.m., dispatchers said. One person died from injuries sustained in the crash and the other driver fled, according to dispatchers.

The name of the victim has not been released.
