Lee University senior defenders Caroline Scales from Chattanooga and Amy Cochran from Yorba Linda, Calif., junior midfielder Leah Fortune from West Chicago, Ill., and junior forward Ode Fulutudilu from Cape Town, South Africa, made the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NAIA women's All-America first team for 2012. The same four had made the NAIA's own All-America first team. The Lady Flames comprised nearly a third of the NSCAA's 13-player first team; NAIA champion Lindsey Wilson had three selections. As in the previous NAIA listing, Lee's Laura Thacker was a second-team NSCAA All-American. The Lady Flames, who reached the national semifinals, had won the previous four NAIA titles and were ranked No. 1 down the stretch of this season. Tennessee Wesleyan senior defender Deanna Dawson from Chicago was a third-team All-American.

• In addition to East Ridge graduate Brooke Gann at Trevecca Nazarene University, whose selection was reported Tuesday, Covenant College senior midfielder Kathryn Allison was an NSCAA/Continental Tire first-team All-American for Division I of the National Christian College Athletic Association. Covenant senior midfielder Chris Pifer was a men's NCCAA Division I All-America second-team choice. Allison is the Lady Scots' first first-team All-American since Jenny Carter in 2009, when Allison earned honorable mention. In addition to leading a defense that posted 11 shutouts and allowed only 16 goals all season, she scored two goals, including one game-winner. Pifer, son of Scots coach Nathan Pifer, was a captain for the 10-10-1 Covenant team that finished second in the NCCAA Mid-East Regional. He had two penalty-kick goals in 2012, giving him 11 goals in his 80-match career.

Wrestling

• The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has three wrestlers ranked among the top 20 in their respective weight classes in the latest Amateur Wrestling News ratings. The Mocs' Nick Soto (125 pounds) is 10th, Josh Condon (165) is 13th and Niko Brown (197) is 18th.

Basketball

• Tennessee Temple's Hampton Mack was the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's men's college basketball player of the week for his part in the Crusaders' 2-1 week culminating with a 71-68 upset win at previously undefeated NCAA Division II team North Alabama. Mack had 18 points, 10 rebounds (seven offensive) and three assists in a 90-84 loss at Reinhardt and 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 71-56 defeat of Truett-McConnell. He was 7-for-11 from the field in scoring 14 points with six rebounds and two steals at UNA. Temple is 7-4.

• The Georgia Northwestern basketball teams both last after leading at halftime Tuesday night against Mid-South College at the Rossville Athletic Complex. The West Memphis, Ark., school used pressure defense to take control in both games and shot 53 percent in the second half of the 72-57 women's contest. LaQuaris Harris led three double-figure Lady Greyhounds scorers with 18 points, countering 13, 12 and 10 by the Lady Bobcats' Sierra Smith, Odessa Person and Alyssa Nichelson. Person also grabbed 18 rebounds. The Greyhounds won 61-56 as Eugene Palmer and Marquavious Smith scored 15 and 13 points. GNTC's Quinton Cotton scored 21 and Alex Miller added 12 plus 11 rebounds. The Bobcats (4-8) host Tennessee Temple's junior varsity Friday before breaking for Christmas; the Lady Cats (6-6) are done until Jan. 3.

• The women's game in the scheduled basketball doubleheader Thursday at Hiwassee College against Carson-Newman has been postponed until a date not yet set. The Hiwassee Lady Tigers are struggling to have enough healthy players right now. The men's game remains scheduled, beginning at 7 p.m.

Cycling

• King College freshman Megan Rogers from Soddy-Daisy built on her victory in her first collegiate cycling competition a week earlier with Women's B cyclocross wins both Saturday and Sunday at the Cobra-Tornado Classic that King co-hosted with Virginia Intermont. Rogers was third overall in the mass-start ladies' race Saturday and fourth in the overall race Sunday.

Football

• The Times Free Press Best of Preps football teams are scheduled to appear in the paper in the Dec. 25 (offense) and Dec. 26 (defense) editions.
