The East Ridge City Council hired Hal North as its interim city attorney Saturday.

North will replace John Anderson, who was fired by the council Thursday.

North will serve on an interim basis for the next 90 days and will be paid a flat $7,500 a month.

Though Mayor Brent Lambert said Friday that Anderson's predecessor, Cris Helton, was a possible candidate, North was the only person nominated at the special called meeting.
