about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

The important thing to consider when attempting to respond appropriately to a tragedy is "What would the victims and the victims' families want?". How do people who have suffered tragedy often find healing, closure, and some sense of purpose? They go out and try to prevent similar tragedy from befalling others. They create foundations to increase public awareness or to help other victims; they also push for changes in relevant legislation. To honor them best, we need to do whatever we can to prevent this from happening again. Every time a similar shooting occurs, the same people screech that "It's too soon to talk about this!". Just when is the right time to have a serious discussion about the rampant gun violence in this country? Tomorrow? "Too soon!" Next week? "Too soon!" Next month? "Don't bother me; I'm busy with other things now..." No, the time to talk is NOW.... AND tomorrow, AND next week, AND next month, until we fix this. THAT is the way to show "respect".

Clay doesn't get it. He just doesn't understand that mass gun violence is as American as apple pie. If you don't it, move to Canada. Seriously, they have about 200 gun killings per year, which is roughly one week in America.

I've grown numb to all the killing. Honestly, each time there's another mass shooting I refuse to watch the details slowly emerge on TV. Instead, we'll watch a movie or read.

I do look forward to NRA supporters turning out to soft sell the gun related carnage, the way Salsa did with the first post. Change the subject. Say something ridiculous.

Come on little tea baggers. Amuse me.

tu_quoque, You appear to be having a "hissy" and a tantrum combined? The truth that the NRA members would like to have greater restrictions against guns in the wrong hands is a fact. A gun owner does not have to be a member of the NRA to buy or own a gun. If the 26 people had not been killed then we would not have to listen to your BS about their needless deaths.
I'm sure the memories of these people will not ever be "tainted" nor forgotten.

Nope. A tragedy has occurred, which has gripped the entire nation and it deserves immediate discussion. I for one, feel that it is healthy for people to vent what they have on their minds.

You, on the other hand, have spurned opportunity to offer any and all expressions of sympathy or empathy long ago, and for you to dare to offer it today, makes my skin crawl. As soon as I finish this post, I'm off to take a shower.

You are the last person on Earth who has any cause or right to suddenly develop an attack of conscience and to offer any sentiment that begins to come off as caring for anyone else. You burned that bridge six months ago.

"Anybody who would exploit the death of these children for his own political gain in less than 1 day, no less, is lower than whale (redacted) and he can stick this piece of (redacted) web site up his (redacted)."

For his own political gain? Wow!! I wasn't aware that Mr. Bennett had any political aspirations. I see nothing that anyone can gain from entering or entertaining a discussion about current events, no matter the subject.

Your outrage is highly misplaced, and it indicates that you are nothing if not totally pathetic, given your routine and demeaning attacks on others.

I much rather expected you to defend Adam Lanza, who pulled the trigger on those children. That would have been more your usual style.

"I bet this pig was grinning ear to ear when he heard the news and knew what a great “gift” he had been handed."

Miss Forever Alone, I have no doubt whatsoever that he too, like the rest of the nation, is in mourning for the lives lost yesterday.

It even cooled your heels for about twelve hours, but I see that you have recovered.

"(redacted) HIM !!"

While it is interesting to note what it takes to see you lose all control of your emotions, I seriously doubt that there is a soul on Earth who would begin to side with you on this one.

"I tried to post this in its original form but the web (redacted) told me to watch my mouth. Can you believe that … watch your mouth…"

Well given the tone of your latest post, which I flagged and urge others to do as well, I think it's high time that the TFP banned your unique identifying address forever and a day from this venue.

"after this fool desecrated the memory of these children. So (redacted) the TFP as well. "

My dear, your faux outrage is the most hilarious set of words you have ever typewritten into this forum to date.

Thanks for the laugh. I truly needed something to smile about today.

Six bullets. That's all any weapon in the hands of a person who is not a cop or in the military, should be allowed to fire without reloading.

It has been reported that more than 100 rounds were fired into that classroom of children in a matter of seconds.

Every single weapon capable of firing more than six bullets at a time, should be outlawed in this nation...forever.

Anyone caught with a weapon in their possession, capable of firing more than six bullets in a single event, should be put to death.

No private citizen needs a weapon capable of firing more than six bullets for protection or hunting.

Before someone takes me to task for it, it appears that the initial reports of 100 rounds fired into the classroom were inaccurate.

Numerous reports now claim that the only two weapons found in the classroom next to Adam Lanza were a Glock pistol and a Sig Sauer pistol as well.

A Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle was found in the trunk of Adam Lanza's mother's car parked in front of the school.

While it may change in the coming days, it is starting to appear that an assault weapon was not used to kill the victims in Newtown, Connecticut.

Due to the changes made over 30 years ago by the liberals in the psychiatric/mental health profession regarding the institutionalization of people with severe mental illnes we have folks with bi-polar disease and schizophrenia living among us that are just a couple of unfilled scripts away from doing something similar to the Connecticut school shooting or worse. It's not the gun laws that we need to look at, Connecticut has tough gun laws as does New York and Nwe Jersey, its the way we diagnose, treat, monitor, and manage patients with severe mental illness that needs to be examined. The classic schizo patient is a male in their early 20's. How many times do have to have a schizo male in his early 20's shoot up a public place before we say....hey maybe Johnny isn't normal any more and needs to be put away? But oh no, people with mental disease are people too and should be allowed to live among us. I say, open up the state mental hospitals again, bring back the guys in the white coats with straight jackets and lock these evil, vile, psychos up permanently. One Flew Over The Koo Koo's Nest struck yesterday and now he will become a celebrity killer just like he wanted to be. May Adam Lanza burn in hell, along with the 20 something schizos that shot up VA Tech and Columbine and the Batman Movie...see, how many times does this have to happen before we start putting these people in the looney bin way they belong. They are a menace to society.....period.

This incident is sickening. It is not possible to imagine how devastating it is to those parents and families that lost someone. It is another example of how crazy and deranged humans can be. Owning a gun is easy, possibly too easy. No registration or training required. A permit to carry outside the home is required. Required training by a qualified expert and registration of assault type weapons (anything over a 9 shot clip) with a more thorough background clearance may be appropriate. Guns, drugs, prostitution and gambling will be accessed by those that want them so regulation and taxation should be part of the control process with severe penalties for noncompliance. Prohibitive laws against these activities only result in making criminals wealthy just as it did with alcohol in the days of prohibition and still does in counties that remain "dry". There is no federal law against gambling, get a stamp and pay the taxes and there is no problem with federal agents unless taxes are not paid then the IRS visits. Local and state laws against gambling work for the local bookies that make a lot of money without paying any local or state taxes while local and state governments spend a lot of tax money in futile enforcement efforts.

Emotions and the desire to enforce morals on others will not allow a logical approach to controlling these vices that have existed in all recorded history and will continue to exist as long as there are people to participate in them. The sincere that object will be joined by the hypocrites seeking to gain favor and votes in both parties in resisting legalization, taxation and regulation.

I'm not saying take all mentally ill patients living among us off their meds and put them away. I am saying that for those with severe mental disorders if we are fortunate enough to diagnose them early need closer monitoring and possibly institutionalization. The vast majority of people with mental disorders can be treated effectively with meds and regular office visits but for those severe cases who oftentimes will not take meds or treatment they need to be hospitalized. Of course there are documented cases where the shrink/psycho therapist/mental health professional is of the "why be normal" school stating that schizophrenics in particular are wonderful, unique people and don't require meds. Here we have it again, the LEFTIST approach: Blame the ones who support legal owning and handling of guns for crimes committed by sick and deranged, enraged persons who watch videos and other violent things on programs LEFTIST supporters say are free speech and should not be monitored or censored. The devaluing of life, the pretense of relativism and selfish building up of a value-less society leads to acts of violent crimes by misled individuals. Here is the LEFTIST catch; they don't want to blame the ones responsibile. They are the victims of what? Those who hold guns legally, abide by the law, and oh by the way, exercise their...are you LEFTIES ready? I know you hate it...they're exercising their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS! The Sandy Hook occurrence is tragic but it has absolutely nothing to do with the NRA. What really blows my mind with LEFTISTS is this: When something from the conservative side comes up it is blown out of proportion over and over and over again. When a Leftist event happens, we hardly hear about it at all or somehow the message gets twisted and the one or ones responsibile are dealt with differently. My guess is that in that Connecticut town the families impacted do not care if the perpretrator carried an NRA card. They only know that some lunatic took precious ones from them senselessly. I still cannot understand how such a person being armed could even get on an elementary campus. My own high school will not allow me to eat lunch there and I don't own a gun.

Maximus,

"The Va Tech shooter did not have severe mental illness?"

He was not schizophrenic, as you suggested he was.

"I think you need to either check your mental state or check your facts."

Your imprecision and ignorance is annoying. Words mean things. None of the killers you mentioned were schizophrenic.

"The Asian kid that did the deed at Va. Tech was indeed a schizophrenic that supposedly had "fallen through the cracks" of the mental health system professionals."

Wrong about the schizophrenia.

"More than four months after the attack, The Wall Street Journal reported on August 20, 2007 that Cho had been diagnosed with selective mutism. The Virginia Tech Review Panel report, also released in August 2007, placed this diagnosis in the spring of Cho's eighth-grade year, and his parents sought treatment for him through medication and therapy."

"The same can be said for the ape s%$t crazy batman movie shooter."

Again, that killer was not schizophrenic either.

"I'm not saying take all mentally ill patients living among us off their meds and put them away."

No one suggested you said to take anyone off their meds. However, you did say:

"how many times does this have to happen before we start putting these people in the looney bin way they belong. They are a menace to society.....period."

"I am saying that for those with severe mental disorders if we are fortunate enough to diagnose them early need closer monitoring and possibly institutionalization."

You have just described the status quo in America regarding such people.

"but for those severe cases who oftentimes will not take meds or treatment they need to be hospitalized."

Conjecture at best. Most severe cases are administered medication by health professionals or guardians."

"of the "why be normal" school stating that schizophrenics in particular are wonderful, unique people and don't require meds. In other words, a natural cure."

No legitimate doctor holds those views on schizophrenia.

http://psychcentral.com/disorders/sx31t.htm

"Those patients are the type that out of the blue plant an axe in the middle of their Mom's forehead."

Again, conjecture.

That little freedom of speech thing you just bashed is also a Constitutional right...

Since when is any of this "from the conservative side"?

Dads, TEACH your kids to shoot guns and use them to educate. Teach them to respect the animals you harvest so that they know that each life, animal or human, here on earth has significance.

I know a lot of people. I do not know a single person who wants to do away with the 2nd Amendment. I do know that current gun control laws are not effective. Congress needs to figure out a way to more effectively keep guns out of the hands of criminals and disordered people while protecting the right for law abiding, sane citizens to bear arms. A solution is overdue. Status quo is unacceptable. As I see it, anyone who obstructs or otherwise interferes with solving the gun control problem is a coward and a terrorist hiding behind the dead bodies of innocent children and adults.

I wish I knew the details of the answer. Even though assault weapons were not used to murder 5-10 year old children and educators this morning – I can think of no reason for anyone outside of the military and law enforcement to possess them... Maybe part of the solution is for guns to be licensed like cars. Perhaps some sort of mental stability test can be administered when it’s time to renew. Perhaps guns should be confiscated from people who fail or fail to take the renewal test. Perhaps being in possession of an unlicensed gun should be treated as a felony, the weapon confiscated, and the felon should lose his/her right to ever vote or possess a gun... I really do not know, but I do know gun control must be improved.

I do know that I have never witnessed a worse Congress and think their 14% approval rating is high. Perhaps this tragedy will stir them to be statesmen instead of partisan fools.

And I am sure the liberals will use this tragic incident they so love and appreciate to move this country what O'Bastard calls forward. It amazes me the lack of compassion clay bennett and the liberals have shown the Sandy Hook families. It is absolutely disgusting how the liberals do not care about the victims and only want to use this to their advantage. Absolutely disgusting.

Joneses - you obviously have little understanding of this issue. Please explain how either President Clinton or President Obama could have convinced Newt Gingrich or John Boehner to increase funding for public mental health services.

And, please note that appropriate mental care would require a community-based system of care. This is not just a federal government issue, it is a state government issue. Conservatives have resisted funding for social services at the state level as well and, at that level, they have been pretty effective.

America got on the right track after the 2008 general election and made progress for two years. America was derailed after the 2010 election when the GOP and their Tea Party cult overran the House and obstructed progress. The facts back me up. The majority of Americans seems to agree with me. The current approval rating of Congress is 14% (seems high). Blaming the President, Democrats, liberals, progressives, etc., for the GOP/Tea Party making life much worse in America is like blaming God for yesterday's shooting because She left our schools. In others words, blaming anyone other than the GOP/Tea Party for problems that got worse over the past two years is stupid.

Of course guns is one of the issues. But any political discussion of this shooting will be pro-guns versus gun control, because it's within their and their constituents limited point of views. It's also cheaper than focusing on other issues like parenting, mental health and adequate security. Look how much we've wasted on homeland security, but little spent on homegrown security problems.

Sir...please go back up there and read what I wrote. No one, including myself has called for a total ban of gun ownership in this nation.

I am an NRA member, albeit not a militant one. I do not own or endorse owning rapid firing weapons capable of firing more than six rounds of ammunition.

Myself and most of the people I know see no sense in any private citizen owning a weapon capable of firing more than six rounds of ammunition without needing to pause and reload.

If one cannot sufficiently disable temporarily or permanently an attacker or murder a deer for its head after firing six shots, then one of two things is evident. Either they need to learn how to shoot a weapon or they need to give their gun to someone who can.

Excellent post mtnmn1, for my money you are pretty close to being spot on. It's a societal problem, a cultural problem. Where do we start? Maybe we start by coming together instead of trying to always tear apart. Maybe we should stop with the I-me-mine mindset and adopt a we-our-us mindset. Are we just too competitive as a culture, win at all costs, I'm always right and you are always wrong, to work together and start solving some of our problems in this country, let alone the world? It seems, to me anyways, that compassion and empathy have become a sign of weakness instead of a show of strength. We spoil our kids with material crap and think that is a substitute for teaching them about taking care of one another. Do we even teach our kids to share anymore? Do we teach our kids that being different on the outside doesn't matter, having material crap (having more or less) doesn't matter, what matters is how you live your life - with compassion, honesty, selflessness, understanding and courage to stand up for others.

It's a small world and it's getting smaller with tragedies, like the latest one, happening everyday. If we don't start looking out for each other we better figure out a way to have our babies born with bullet proof skin.

Why is it that many look to the federal government for everything instead of placing responsibility where it belongs with local and state governments. Why would mental health care and treatment be a federal government issue with yet another fat and lumpy hierarchy? Chicago was used as an example of a high number of shootings every week. Where is the mayor and governor, what are the citizens of Chicago and the state of Illinois asking for to address the issue and what are they willing to pay for and support?

Is it incorrect to conclude anyone physically attacking another person that was not attempting to harm or kill them is somewhat mentally ill? It is not against the law to be crazy and it is impossible to predict who, until today appeared sane, will become crazy tomorrow.

EaTn,

I agree the guns take up the biggest part of the conversation about this, most recent tragedy. Should it? Probably not. But it's an issue that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. We have too many people on opposite ends of the spectrum on that particular issue. It will be very unlikely that anything significant will be done anytime soon but it's at least worth investing the time in an intelligent conversation involving reasonable people.

And I think all those issues are important to talk about on top of the gun issue. This issue isn't black and white. That is the pickle we all get in when things like this happen; too many extremes.

And don't get me started on "homeland security".

Somebody killed 20 school kids and 8 adults. Sad enough. The media swarms over the site and goes into blanket coverage seeking every detail about the horrific event - for about a week. The talking heads explain by saying the gunman was "mentally disturbed." The governor says "this too shall pass." Obama says he reacted to the event not as a politician but as a parent while wiping away a tear. NRA operatives make frantic calls to congress reminding the members about their threatened campaign contributions.

For those children in the Middle East whose parents have stared up at the sky every effin' day for ten effin' years, wondering if the great Satan or his surrogates in Israel would choose to kill them and their children on any random day with his planes and drones because the "suspicious activity" of a neighbor was used to justify a random attack; the talking heads will simply say "a suspected insurgent was killed today in a drone attack in Afghanistan." The neighbor and his innocent wife and children are written off as "collateral damage" in America's "war on terror" while Americans pack the malls walking past rows of TVs at news time showing his destroyed house, weeping neighbors and mutilated children. No tear for them. No questions about the mental state of the drone operator when he squeezed the trigger on his joystick eight thousand miles away. It's all just another day in the "greatest, most exceptional country in the world."

Like they say - "when is this gonna stop?"

One of these days the NRA will recognize that they do not endorse basic gun safety. They put out a lot of literature and a cute little mascot to teach kids the NRA's version of gun safety. The fact is they do not endorse what every soldier is taught in basic training. Gun security is paramount. Time and time again I have seen young people die while using someone else's firearm. Usually a parent. Any soldier will tell that if the weapon is not on your body or within immediate control, IT HAS TO BE LOCKED DOWN!!! The U.S. Army will punish any soldier that fails to do so. A simple trigger lock is better than what most "idiots with guns" do - like leaving them in the bedside drawer. Usually loaded.

Local news sources in Connecticut are saying that Lanza was an autistic kid with Asperger's. There may have been more severe problems with him that had not yet been diagnosed.

That does raise many questions. Was the family getting the support they needed after he aged out of the school system? Most kids with these types issues have a very hard time once they leave the school system.

His mother divorced in 2008 and had been working for the school. His father was a VP at a large financial company. Though his father is wealthy, we will probably never know how his mother was managing after the divorce with a disabled son.

Were there adequate mental health services to support this young man? How many people knew how troubled he was and could more have been done to stop this?

How easy was it for a kid with his history to get his hands on firearms? Did he purchase them? Were the guns in the house already?

All of these questions have relevance to the current budget debates. Cutting "entitlements" often drops exactly those supports that people with profound disabilities and mental illness rely on.

In a time of high unemployment, the disabled are often the last ones on the list to be hired - pushing even more to rely on benefit checks even if they would rather work.

Daytonsdarwin, with regard to your 7:54 a.m. post: Huckabee has already jumped on the THIS-IS-WHAT-WE-GET-WHEN-WE-TAKE-GOD-OUT-OF-OUR-SCHOOLS bandwagon. He said this on Faux News: "We ask why there is violence in our schools, but we have systematically removed God from our schools. Should we be so surprised that schools would become a place of carnage? We don't have a crime problem, a gun problem or even a violence problem. What we have is a sin problem. And since we've ordered God out of our schools, and communities, the military and public conversations, you know we really shouldn't act so surprised when all hell breaks loose."

I would like to see him face the parents of every one of those murdered kids and say that to them - how it's basically their fault for sending their kids to a "Godless" school. He is a pathetic piece of pond scum.

I seem to recall an incident not long ago where a gun-toting nut showed up at a Sunday church service and killed one of the church members there. Wonder what Huckabee's explanation for that was? Oh wait....that was a "pro-lifer" gunning down an abortion doctor, so that was just a case of a good Christian soldier carrying out God's work, I guess. Never mind. Just more of God's divine plan being carried out by his faithful stewards.

@daytonsdarwin: "Waiting for the religious idiots like Mike Huckabee, Billy Graham, Pat Roberson, and others to blame it on no school prayer, saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, and gay people." - Well, it wasn't a long wait. Within a few short hours yesterday, Huckabee said that god had not prevented the shooting because "God doesn't go where he is not welcome", an allusion to the lack of lack of state-sponsored promotion of religion in public schools. Brian Fischer and a couple of others quickly followed with similar inanity. Do they really think that these families want to hear this? Do they think that this doesn't hurt the believers among them? Of course, no one on the right has expressed the least bit of outrage over this insensitivity. They are only incensed that anyone might want to take a serious look at the consequences of our ludicrously lax gun laws.

On the issue of mental health care.... MTJohn was correct to point out that de-institutionalization began during the Reagan administration. I was working in that field at the time, helping formerly institutionalized patients 'mainstream' back into the community; we were doing the best that we could. Ever since, republicans have continued to do everything possible to dismantle the system and cut funding at every level. How disingenuous to blame that system now. btw... There are people in all countries who suffer from psychiatric disorders, but among developed countries, but they generally don't go out and gun down dozens of innocents. Here that is becoming so common that it doesn't even surprise us anymore.

We hold an unprecedented lead in gun violence among the developed nations. Why is that? It certainly isn't because are country is less religious; the least religious countries tend to be among the least violent. Not taking a serious look at all the factors that might contribute to this problem, beginning with our love affair with guns, will surely lead to more tragedy.

The Reagan years were long known as the "Massacre of the 80's" in mental health care. As well as closing the institutions, the Reagan programs eliminated disability checks for most types of mental illness.

Underfunded, understaffed institutions were a serious problem at that time. Putting everyone with severe mental illness on the street was no solution.

Re-institutionalizing the mentally ill in prisons has become the worst of both worlds - all of the expense of an institution without any of the supports.

It also puts the incentives in all the wrong places. If you are violent or aggressive - you get a roof over your head, three squares, and health care.

If you are seriously ill but not an imminent danger to yourself or other people - well good luck to you.

I doubt you will see a rational or logical reason. I have a carry permit and for good reason carry a pistol for personal protection. It is unfortunate that no law banning guns would prevent criminals or crazies from obtaining and using them. At the risk of being assaulted I will say I have no problem with limiting, controlling or banning ownership of an assault weapon. The name says a lot. Sigh. As always, the Jesus General (conservative) chimes in.

“Liberals have prevented the morals of God from being taught in our public schools and now we are reaping what Liberals have sown.”

Aren’t the morals of god to be taught in ‘HIS’ house - aka churches? If not there then why have them?

I urge free thinking individuals to receive and sign a “DeBaptismal Certificate.” The certificate reads:

“I,____ having been subjected to a Christian baptism before reaching an age of consent in the Year of No Lord __, or having submitted to baptism before embracing free thought and reason, hereby officially renounce that primitive rite and the Church that imposed it. I categorically reject the creeds, dogmas, and superstitions of my former religion, particularly the pernicious doctrines of ‘Original Sin’ and damnation.

“I further denounce as an affront and defamation to humanity the false and demeaning belief that any baby is born with ‘Original Sin’ and must be cleansed of it by baptism. From this day forward, I wish to be excluded from any claims of religious affiliation or membership based on baptismal records.”

The certificate is signed by Dan Barker, a former ordained minister who is now co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The motto at the bottom reads, “Freedom depends upon freethinkers.”

It's the frightening ease with which people can get their hands on military type weapons that nobody other than the military or cops have any business having....that is what we are so concerned about. I will admit that we ARE unanimously opposed to anyone having such weapons of mass destruction. If any of you think that owning those types of weapons are our unalienable right, then you're effin' idiots too.

Clay Bennett's cartoon isn't even remotely about gun confiscation or a repeal of the second amendment, nor is Obama or any congress-person or senator, at least not that I know of, doing or saying anything to suggest such a thing. We have a bad enough crisis on our hands with these mass killings happening more and more often and we need to deal with the problem rationally. Your words "That doesn't mean I believe I BLA BLA or that a virgin gave birth to a supergod-baby." Would you make the same comments about the prophet Muhammad? Would you make fun of and state that the 5 daily prayers of those followers of Islam are ignorant? Are Muslims filled with BS? Would you compare the Koran to Grimm's Fairy Tales and Sleeping Beauty? If so do it now. Time to man up Dayton. Dickens had his own wife committed by the way so that he could bring in a younger woman. Entertaining socialist writer but a complete anal cavity, like you, regarding his personal life. I own several leather bound early editions of Dickens. Pickwick Papers very good, now tell me about that fantasy world called the Koran....tick tock.

Maximus,

daytonsdarwin and any skeptic would say the same thing about any religion. It just so happens that there aren't any Koran thumpers in these threads.

You're a moron. But I guess that's the Christian way. Only a Christian would want equal time for insults. "If yer gonna maik fuun'v mi religern, yew gotta maik fuuna dem other religierns tew!"

You aren't the finest of Christian apologists, if I may say so myself.

BUUUZZZZZZZZ!! Your little clock went off.

"I own several leather bound early editions of Dickens."

"I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany."

Let me guess, you're friends with Merlin Olsen as well?

Emphasis on the SOB part though.

For the record, those who take the Koran as a divine scripture and are Koran literalists are just as crazy as those who take the Bible literally. Same if someone took Grimm's Fairy Tales literally.

Religious orthodoxy has been and will always be foolishness. When any myth is taken as fact of god, gods, demons, devils, and supernatural dogma you've crossed the road to ignorance and superstition.

I hope for the day when orthodox religions are placed on the trash heap along with fortune-telling, talking with the dead, resurrection, Scientology, and faith-healing.

While that might be true, Jack, remember that atheists do not profess faith in the Author of the law of love.

You're pushing your self-righteousness, indignation, fake outrage, etc.

You're insane. Best of luck on your life of delusion.

The names of the victims are out there for anyone to read. This is a cartoon thread. Only self-righteous ass holes do what you are doing. You don't get bonus points for posting them here and you don't get credit for your faux humanity this one time in your life. You aren't fooling anyone.

I'm sure you're going to get back around to talking about raping people with strap-ons, aren't you?

Why aren't you laughing your a$$ off, you self-righteous twat?

Let her go, Easy. For the first time she's feeling something for someone outside her own, dark little mind. Maybe someday she'll develop an ounce of compassion for the living as well as the dead.

We are all mourning in our own way. Whether we create little electronic memorials or light a solitary candle in the privacy of our homes.

There are many sources out there where we can read about those who were killed. Every major network is working to amass a full list with pictures to go with them.

"I'm sure the families of these victims will be happy to have you protecting the names and details of their loved ones."

Quite frankly, the families are not concerned with who is doing a doggone thing in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

"Its is odd though that no one on this thread has bothered to divert from their particular agenda or debating point to even mention their names or anything about them all day."

There's nothing at all odd about it at all. There are numerous sites out there where that information can be obtained. When those details are amassed on every single person who was killed, one will be able to view that information for themselves.

In other words, there are people working to amass that information, far more qualified to deliver it, than yourself.

"Lucky for them though that when help was needed you were there and your concern for their memory was paramount. Very good job."

Oh please....shut up. Your false and sudden demonstration of compassion is as transparent as a piece of scotch tape.

I noticed that your first post in this thread was removed. Bravo!! It's about time the staff at the TFP dropped the hammer on you.

Gotta play nice to be allowed to post henceforth?

LMAO!!!!
