A Guild, Tenn., man was jailed Thursday night after authorities say he fired shots at another vehicle on Interstate 24 near Jasper, Tenn.

Michael J. Odom, 62, of 1265 Hales Bar, was arrested on four counts of aggravated assault and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon, Tennessee Highway Patrol spokeswoman Jennifer Donnals said. Donnals noted Odom was listed as a Suwanee, Ga., resident, as well.

THP dispatchers in Chattanooga received a report from Marion County's 911 center that two pickup trucks were traveling west on I-24 near exit 155, and someone in one truck "was shooting at the other pickup truck," Donnals said.

"We had some units near the 155 exit," she said. "Both vehicles took that exit and THP and the Marion County Sheriff's Department stopped the complainant's vehicle and another THP unit and the Jasper Police Department stopped the suspect."

Marion County Jail officials said Odom remains in custody and no bond has been set.

Authorities recovered two firearms from Odom's car and one spent shell casing, she said. Donnals said she wasn't sure what kind of firearm was used, but investigators said the shell casing matched the caliber of one of the weapons recovered.

No one was shot and no vehicles were damaged, she said.

Donnal said she was unsure how many people were in either of the two vehicles.
