United Way of Greater Chattanooga is marking Dr. Seuss' birthday with Read Across Chattanooga, a local celebration of the National Education Association's "Read Across America."

Beginning Tuesday through March 3, United Way will hold a reading hour at Center Stage of Hamilton Place Mall.

Tuesday through Friday, there will be a book reading from 6 to 7 p.m. along with free book enrollments, prizes and children's art activities.

Guest readers will include state Sen. Andy Berke, Mayor Ron Littlefield, Azusa Dance, James Howard and Kim Carson.

On March 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a birthday party to honor Dr. Seuss will be held. There will be snacks, book readings, activities, prizes while supplies last and a visit from the Cat in the Hat.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., children can get a learning checkup at the mall's Play Area. The family of every child who gets a learning checkup will receive a free family pass to the Creative Discovery Museum.
