Chattanooga police say a man who was shot Thursday and is in critical condition was involved in another shooting three years ago in which a bullet broke the bedroom window of a sleeping child.

Reginald A. Harris, 28, who police say is a member of the Rollin' 60s Crips, was shot about 2:30 p.m. at 3710 Chula Vista Drive in Brainerd. Doctors performed surgery at Erlanger hospital and he is in intensive care, according to police.

His shooting is the eighth in the city so far this year.

Investigators are still pursuing leads on suspects, police said.

In 2009, Harris was involved in what police called a gang-related shooting at 7749 Holiday Hills Circle near Bonny Oaks Drive. Authorities took 10 people into custody in that incident, but police said all gave inconsistent stories during interviews.

Investigators found numerous bullet casings on the ground as well as bullet holes in a nearby home and two vehicles.

One of the bullets went into a home where a child was sleeping. The child was not injured.

Harris has several pending criminal court cases, including charges for escape, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest stemming from a March 2011 arrest.

His next court date is set for Feb. 8 before Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Rebecca Stern.
