Dalton, Ga., police searching for Quality Inn hotel thief

Police are looking for a man who slipped into a Dalton hotel room and stole a woman's purse with $2,000 cash and credit cards inside.

The theft happened on Thursday shortly before 7 a.m. at the Quality Inn on College Drive, said Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier

A hotel surveillance system captured videos and photos of a man walking past a room as another man walks out, Frazier said.

As soon as the other man is out of sight, the suspect walks back to the cracked-open door, slips inside, then out again, holding something in his arm, Frazier said.

The victims told police that the husband went outside to get something from his car while his wife was in the bathroom. The husband left the door cracked so he could get back in. The wife immediately noticed her purse missing and called police, Frazier said.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Detective Chris Tucker at the Dalton Police Department at 706-278-9085, ext. 165.
