The Lee University women's basketball team, ranked No. 6 in NAIA Division I, won 91-66 at Southern Polytechnic on Saturday, but the 18th-ranked Lee men lost 84-79 to the No. 4 Hornets in the second game of the Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader.

Duran Blue, Alex Wells, Ryan Westbrooks and Steve Bennett each scored 14 points for the Flames (13-4, 8-3), and Josh Henley had 15 rebounds with 10 points. Bobby Smith and DeAndre Bryant led Southern Poly (15-3, 8-1) with 15 and 14 points.

Ashlie Billingslea had 29 points for the Lady Hornets, but the Lady Flames (19-1, 11-0) trumped that with Mary Jackson, Hollie German and Angela Spann scoring 18, 17 and 16 points and Karley Miller and Kally Eldridge adding 13 apiece. Miller also had 10 rebounds, and Spann and Jackson grabbed eight and seven.

Jessie Blankenship had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Ruth Gibson had 13 points and three steals and Jessica Chittenden scored 12 points for the Covenant Lady Scots, but they lost 72-63 in a Great South Athletic Conference game at Huntingdon, Sekal Ousley led Huntingdon with 16 points.

The Huntingdon men won 79-65 with Austin Hill pacing five double-figure scorers with 17 points. Bryant Engbers topped Covenant with 14, while Callum Sears and Colton McGriff added 11 and 10.

Bryan's teams split an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader at Union in Barbourville, Ky., losing 83-70 in the women's game despite 18 points by Anna Thomas and 15 and 13 by Bethany McArthur and Morgan Burnette. Burnette also had nine rebounds. Kara Pile scored 38 points for Union and Lindsey Waters had 24 points plus 15 rebounds.

Bryan's Lions won 73-66 with Dion Fair scoring 16 points and Lavonte Henderson, Rob Riley and Alan Holt adding 14, 13 and 12.

The Sewanee women lost 78-50 to Southwestern with Kayla Sewell scoring 10 points and adding 11 rebounds and four steals and Alex Ginsburg also scoring 10. Chelsea Leeder and Anna Fareed had 19 and 17 for the Texas team, Fareed going 5-for-9 on 3-point shots.

But Sewanee won the men's game 61-55 with Robert Veal scoring 14 points and Tyler Brown contributing 13 rebounds with 12 points.

Chattanooga State won 63-60 in a TCCAA women's game at Walters State, but the host Senators won 86-77. The Lady Tigers overcame an 11-point halftime deficit in giving the national-top-10 Lady Senators their first conference loss. Hiydaayah Williams had 21 points, eight rebounds and four steals for Chattanooga State, and April Woodard and Jessica King each scored 10 points.

Byron Trench had 23 points and eight rebounds and Telvin James and Tre' Webb scored 11 and 10 points in defeat for the Tigers, who had a one-point lead at halftime.

The Cleveland State teams also split at Roane, the Lady Cougars beating the hosts 76-61 but the Cougars falling 80-67. Shanavian Woodland had 18 points and Jessica Harper, Hannah Brown and Chelsea Jones scored 12, 11 and 10 for the Cleveland State women.

Nick Ross scored 21 points, Travis Jones had 17 and Keith Johnson scored 12 for the Cougars. Jon Maybank had 29 for Roane, which got 19 from Cedric Clinkscales and 14 from Kinard Gadsen-Gilliard.
