Executives with WRCB-TV, Chattanooga's NBC affiliate, say they will begin broadcasting all of the station's "Eyewitness News" newscasts and local programming in high definition early this fall.

The station has been broadcasting NBC network programs, nationally syndicated programs and commercials in high definition for several years, according to a news release from the station.

"We're excited to let our viewers know that we are very close to completing our HD plans," WRCB President and General Manager Tom Tolar said in the release. "It has involved much time, hard work and technical planning, but it will be worth the wait.

The exact date of launch, he said, will depend on equipment and training.

WRCB began broadcasting in Chattanooga in 1956.
