Sonja Clayton Kirby, 42, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.A 42-year-old Alabama woman has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and marijuana after a traffic stop, authorities said.
Sonja Clayton Kirby, of Langston, Ala., has been charged with reckless endangerment, possession of controlled substances, second-degree possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest,according to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. She was released on $7,000 bond, the release said.
Kirby already had an outstanding warrant for reckless endangerment when she was pulled over Saturday at the intersection of Highway 35 and Highway 79 in Scottsboro, the release said. When the deputy tried to arrest her on the warrant, she resisted and was taken into custody, the release said.
A search of her vehicle found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia and a .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol, the release said.
