MURFREESBORO, Tenn.
A Texas man accused of making a bomb threat against a Murfreesboro mosque has pleaded not guilty.
Javier Alan Correa turned himself in Monday.
David Boling, the spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Nashville, said Correa was released on his own recognizance. The 23-year-old from Corpus Christi was indicted by a federal grand jury in June. He is accused of threatening to blow up the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
Correa also is charged with violating the civil rights of mosque members.
BEAR CREEK, Ala.
A 9-year-old Gardendale girl has drowned after pulling her younger brother to safety in a pond near Haleyville, Ala.
The chief of the Bear Creek Fire Department, Rob Taylor, said Brandi Odom was swimming with her brothers, ages 7 and 6, late Sunday afternoon when the 7-year-old got into deep water. She pulled her brother out by the arm, then she got into trouble herself and went under.
He said rescue workers arrived to find the girl's grandmother doing CPR, but the girl was pronounced dead at a hospital.
MCMINNVILLE, Tenn.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has placed a McMinnville man wanted for murder on the state's top 10 most wanted list.
The TBI said Tuesday that Gregorio Rosas Arenas, 35, is wanted in the June 20 shooting of Albertano Guerrero Trejo, 29.
