Summerville recycling plant fire still burning

Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters said this afternoon that firefighters are making progress toward containing the fire at a recycling plant in Summerville, Ga.

Wiinters told The Associated Press two firefighters suffered heat-related problems but were treated at the scene.

WRCB-TV reported today that the Georgia Emergency Management Agency ordered everyone within a quarter-mile of the plant evacuated. Firefighters from nearby Catoosa, Walker, Polk, Bartow, Floyd and Cherokee Counties have been called in to help fight the fire.
