Martin, Lookouts dominate Barons

HOOVER, Ala. — The Chattanooga Lookouts closed out their Southern League baseball series Friday night by defeating the Birmingham Barons 6-1.

Chattanooga starting pitcher Ethan Martin bounced back from his only loss this season by allowing four hits in seven scoreless innings while striking out seven.

Travis Denker gave Martin all the support he needed with a second-inning single to center field that scored J.T. Wise and Pedro Baez. The Lookouts (28-27) added four runs in the third with an outburst highlighted by a Wise double to center that scored Luis Nunez and a Baez double to left that scored Blake Smith and Wise.

The Lookouts begin a five-game series against Jackson at AT&T Field tonight at 7:15. Aaron Miller (3-4, 5.10 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Taijuan Walker (4-1, 2.23) scheduled for the Generals.
