Daniel Densmore faces two felony murder charges along with counts of arson, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A man charged with killing two people in Whitfield County, Ga., in September was indicted by a grand jury Thursday.

Daniel Densmore, 33, was indicted on two counts of murder in the killings of 61-year-old Julius Wayne Smith and 14-year-old Krista Denae Babb, according to Bert Poston, district attorney for the Conasauga Judicial Circuit.

"A competency evaluation was conducted and [Densmore] was determined to be competent to stand trial," Poston said in an email.

A court date has not yet been set.

The bodies of Smith and Babb were found in a burning house in Rocky Face on Sept. 17.

Mike McCarthy with the public defender's office said he is representing Densmore. On Friday, McCarthy said he had seen no official indictment document and had only heard about Densmore's indictment.

Densmore knew Smith because he once lived in Smith's rental property and occasionally borrowed cash for gas or past-due rent, according to newspaper archives. Smith was also Densmore's uncle through Densmore's former marriage.

Police believe Krista Babb was simply visiting Smith when Densmore came by, shot them both and set a fire to cover up the evidence.
