Prosecutors in Whitfield County, Ga., hope to keep a man charged with two counts of murder behind bars until he can be tried in court.

Adolph "Sonny" Neal, 49, is charged with killing his wife, Jessica Neal, 27, and her 69-year-old grandfather, Donald Shedd, in their Dawnvillle, Ga., home. Neal is in the Whitfield County Jail awaiting a bond hearing, which was set for Tuesday but Superior Court Judge Cindy Morris postponed it until Friday.

After the bodies were found May 24, Neal eluded police for a week before being caught near Varnell, Ga., and Whitfield District Attorney Bert Poston said Tuesday he wants Neal to remain in jail.

"We'll be opposed to any bond," Poston said.

Neal's bond hearing was moved to Friday, Poston said, because Neal is seeking legal representation.

"I think he's trying to hire private counsel," Poston explained.

The delay will also afford prosecutors time to get a hard copy of Neal's arrest warrant, which they did not have in hand at Tuesday's hearing but will need in the future.
