Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association soccer all-staters include Chattanooga

Seventeen area players were selected to the Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association all-state boys' teams for 2012.

Ramsey Seagle, Jaakko Nurminen, O.T. Bah and Rodrigo Alonso from recent state champion Baylor were selected in Division II-AA along with McCallie seniors Arturo Rocha and Angel Cruz and junior Hunter Brock.

Seagle was Baylor's leading scorer with 10 goals and added seven assists, while Bah scored eight goals and Alonso had seven. Nurminen commanded the midfield position and chipped in a pair of goals and two assists. Rocha, a Lee University signee, had 17 goals and 19 assists for the Blue Tornado's state semifinalists, while Brock had 19 goals and seven assists. Cruz had three goals and three assists at midfield.

Chattanooga Christian and Notre Dame each had two players chosen in A/AA. The Chargers' Will Taylor had 14 goals and six assists, while Carson Whitmore had 13 goals and three assists. Both were seniors for the state quarterfinalists. Wes Blanton totaled 11 goals and eight assists for the Irish, also state quarterfinalists. Defender Kyle Holley manned the defensive back line.

Also making the team in A/AA was East Hamilton senior Daniel Duk. He had 17 goals for the Hurricanes, who were defeated in overtime of a sectional against CCS.

In Class AAA, Ooltewah's Felipe Munoz, a Sewanee commitment, and Sean McLain were selected along with Bradley Central's Miles Christian, Franklin County defender Jesse Hays and Tullahoma midfielder Josh Thompson.

Munoz, the District 5-AAA MVP and offensive player of the year, totaled 15 goals and 13 assists for the Owls, while McLain repeated as defensive player of the year. Christian, who will play for Bryan College, had 32 goals and eight assists for the Bears.
